Salutations! I started working on a canvas and made a mistake on it and didn't want to throw it out. I found some scraps of fabric at A.C.Moore in their sale bins. It was a perfect cover up for this 3"x3" canvas.
The fabric was floral and I cut out some of the flowers and glued those on to the canvas. There is a little bit of blue and yellow acrylic paint here and there on the canvas. I used the bird punch from Stampin Up to make a template and traced it onto grungepaper. Once the bird and its wing was cut out I painted the bird with broken china and picket fence distress crackle paint. The frame is a slide mount that I painted with distress crackle paint and attached it to the canvas with pop dots. The three flags where made out of scraps of paper and attached to the string. When I finished attaching all the pieces I added the little pearls all around the frame.
I love to use grungepaper in lots of my projects but it's hard to cut with a paper punch. With my favorite paper punches I punch out the shapes and save them as templates to trace onto grungepaper and fussy cut them out to use on projects. Of course I can cut lots of shapes with my dies and big shot but I have many paper punches that I love to use so the templates are perfect for me.

Hi Karenliz, if this piece is a result of your mistakes...it is cute!
ReplyDeleteI have nominated you for a blog award - you can pick it up on my blog!
This is why you never throw away mistakes. You can make something great out of it. This is really nice KarenLiz. I like the crackled look. Such fun texture.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to mention that I noticed PaperWishes has a Steam Punk paper line. It was in their June Scrapbook Personal Shopper kit. I don't think it is out yet to everyone else since the members get the papers like 3 months before they are in the catalog. Thought you would be interested in knowing! :D
