Journal Pages on plane, Journal Pages on a train, Journal Pages here or there....

Journal Pages Everywhere!

Salutations! While traveling to Florida I made a journal page on the plane and few others sitting by the pool and a few in my sister's craft room! The one thing I love about journals are they are so easy to take with you. I bought a small messenger bag that fit quite a few art supplies and a couple of journals perfectly.

The first journal page isn't my favorite. I started part of it at home and finished it on the plane. The plane ran into quite a bit a turbulence and using watercolors while you are bumping around doesn't really work! What I should have done is started a fresh page and let the watercolors run all over the page!

I'm going to add a quote to the page but I can't make up my mind on which quote I want!

This page I did the night before I left. I had a 1PM flight back.

The clock and twigs dies are from Tim Holtz.  I love the clock and I think I may use it on quite a lot of projects.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #208

Salutations! Today I have a card for Mojo Monday's sketch challenge. I've been making cards in black, white and gray with a pop of color.

Here is Mojo Monday's sketch:

My card:

In my stash of paper I have two rolls of corrugated cardboard in light purple and white and love to use Spillbinders Nestabilities dies to cut shapes into the cardboard. The gray paper in the background is a piece of scrap.  The black and white clock paper is 7 gypsies paddington paper.  I love string on cards and the scalloped heart dies from Spellbinders was perfect to do a little string art.

Supplies:
Black and White card stock
Scrap paper
7 gypsies paddington paper
white corrugated cardboard
Spellbinders nestabilities scalloped heart dies
Stampin Up inks in tempting turquoise
Black metallic thread

The Umbrella Man!

Salutations!  I was away on vacation for some rest and relaxation but I also did a little crafting! Here is a tag I made.

For early birthday presents I received quite a few of Tim Holtz dies, stamps, embellishments, tapes plus we went to a large flea market and scored eight old music books plus sheet music. I used the die to cut him out of old sheet music but decided to use what is left to make this tag.  I used punchinella and distress inks on the tag first then adhered the sheet music.

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Salutations! I've been in the process of clean up and cleaning out my craft room. It's amazing how in the far corners I find pieces of art I've started but never created anything.  I found these wings with a clock face on it that I made. I think I was going to use it for a canvas.

I created this tag and I had the perfect stamp.  I actually embossed the tag with Tim Holtz clocks embossing folder but you can't see it. I must remember to photograph my projects at a different angle to see the dimension so you can see it.

Color Challenge

Salutations!  Today I challenged myself only to use two colors. I've been a little obsessed with lime green so I chose that and black.  I decided to make a Halloween tag. I know you probably guessed that already but what perfect colors.

The cat and skull are grungeboard and everything else are bits and pieces of supplies on my table.

Inspiration....HEARTS!

Salutations!  I've been cutting corrugated hearts out of spellbinders dies so I had a few left and it gave me an inpiration for a canvas.

What do you think?
Sometimes I'm not sure if I've gone to far with the backgrounds but I like this one. I've been obsessing over these colors lately especially the lime green and turquoise.

Adore!

Salutations! Today's tag was inspired by hearts I cut from a spellbinders die with corrugated paper. The tag had some color on it already because I use my tags to drag through leftover inks on my craft cheat before I clean it up with a paper towel.  I just added some more distress inks to it.

BEWARE!

Salutations!  Today I have a Halloween canvas.  As you know I love Halloween and I found a grungeboard skull that was quite large for a card but perfect for a canvas.

The skull is painted with distress crackle paint in picket fence and the letters are grungeboard too.

Live In The Moment!

Salutations! I'm trying to do just that! I don't want the warm weather to go away. I dread winter. But this card was inspired by a tree in my neighbor's yard. The leaves are already changing color!

The background I made with paint, inks and stamps. The leaf stamp is an old stamp from my stash. I took a manila tag and dragged it into distress inks and water. Once dried stamped the leaf twice with jet black archival ink and cut them from the tag.

Thank You, Thank You!

Salutations! First I want to thank everyone who stops by my blog, those who leave comments, and my followers.  I truly appreciate it.  I also received a two emails asking a few questions and I thought I would share them here.

What would I call my style of art and where do I get my inspiration?

I'm just starting to see a style in my art and I haven't slightest idea what to call it. I'm definitely not clean and simple! Most of my inspiration comes from color; driving home from work I will see a sign with a bright color, nature, wherever I see a pop of color puts ideas in my head. I do go through art magazines, photography sites and blogs when I'm stuck in a rut.

How do I come up with my designs?

This one I really had to think about. It's mostly a found object on my table or a piece of paper with a certain color that gets me thinking about a card or canvas.  There are many times that I walk into my craft room with a large cup of tea and just start something and everything just works without me really thinking about it. I don't sketch anything before hand. Half the time I'm playing with inks, paint and paper and the perfect idea pops into my head. Also it can take me almost an hour to get to and from work everyday and lately ideas come to me while I'm sitting in traffic. The hardest part is not being able to write them down to remember!

My mother was an artist and always said that she had a need to make art at every day. She described it to me as a need for a drug. I always laughed at her. She died in 2004 and for a few years I couldn't even go into my craft room but then I walked back into my craft room and haven't come out since. Art is also my drug of choice and I completely understand what she meant.  Next in line to my daughter, my mother would have been my biggest fan.  On second thought, I know she is my biggest fan!

ON TO MY PROJECT. Today is an ATC sized canvas.  The background is actually a paint and ink stained paper towel. It ended up having a red heart shape on it and I thought it would be perfect for the canvas. It was attached to the canvas with mod podge and I outlined the heart with teeny tiny silver beads.

The small heart and the word love are grungeboard.

Courage to become who you really are

Salutations! This card was made after a phone conversation with my daughter. She has so much courage now. Four years ago she didn't know what she really wanted. Although I may not like it, in the moment, I am proud that she can stand up to me and tell me what she is doing is right for her.  It does take courage to become who you really are and I think she knows who she is.

Okay on with my card.

The background I made with a Crafters Workshop template and distess inks. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and the floral focal is an old stamp. It's one of my originals when I started stamping. The company's name on the side of the stamp is very worn and I can't read it. Sorry!

Just Add Ink #83 - Sketch Challenge

Salutations! Today's creativity is for Just Add Ink's Sketch Challenge and I decided to create a picture to hang on the wall.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my wall art.

I created my own background papers with paints, inks, and templates. The sunflower and bee are a very old stamps from Personal Stamp Exchange (PSX) which does not exist any longer. I have quite a few of their stamps and decided to pull some out I haven't used in a while. Everthing is adhered with Mod Podge to a gessobord.

A night of scrapbooking but I made cards!

Salutations! I attended a scrapbooking fundraiser but only made cards. The one problem with these events is that I meet so many people plus catch up with friends that I don't get very much done. Does that happen to you?

I didn't write down what supplies I used so I'm going to give a few that I do know.  The Boo card all the supplies are Michaels Store's Recollection products. The tag and second card the trees are Stampin Up; the background paper on the card is Memory Box; and the bats are Inkadinkado stamps.

Hope you have a great holiday weekend!

Ponder

Salutations! Today instead of showing you a journal page I took a 12x12 piece of watercolor paper and thought of it as a journal page.  I just did whatever my hands wanted me to do. I'm not a 12x12 person and usually I look at the blank page and nothing happens. I just like to work on smaller sizes. This time since I thought of it as a journal page my hands took over and it was a great stress reliever, very calming.

I used Liquidtex acrylic paints, spray inks, scraps of paper, crafters workshop templates, book paper and stamps. Not sure if I like it 100% but I think I'll frame it and hang it in my craft room.
