HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLYN! SHE'S 25!!!!

It's my daughter's 25th birthday today. Time has flown by so fast. It's amazing how far she has come and how exciting her future looks. I'm so proud of her.

Happy Birthday Kaylyn!

This is Kaylyn's Booothday Card.

I love Graphic 45's Steampunk Spells paper. The colors and images are perfect to fussy cut. This card I decided to make on a black cardstock but don't add any background paper.  I built the scene right on the paper. I love the contrast of the colors and the black.

First the woman's face is so beautiful and I love her outfit and the wings. One of my many favorite things are hot air balloons so when I saw this paper I had to get it. It was a lot of fussy cutting but I enjoy doing it.

BOOOOOO!

I love black and white cards and I had two pieces of scrap paper that I challenged myself to use for a card. It's a simple card and it won't cost extra to put in the mail.

This is the only reason I like Fall

THE COLORS
AMAZING COLORS

This is my huge willow tree in my back yard. I think this is poison sumac or something that will start you itching. This year the colors were amazing on it. This was taken one week ago but they are all gone now.

Gone Batty

This card I'm not done yet. I still have some more images to cut out but I wanted to show you what it looks like so far. The window and spider webs are Memory Box Dies; bats are paper punched and the woman is cut from paper.

I'm adding more images in front of the window to balance it all out. I will post another picture when I'm done.

Bad Hair Day, Bad Art Day, No it was perfect!

Ever have one of those days where nothing seems to be going right. I've been working on taking those days with a grain of salt because there are others who are having a worse day than me.  That said I still felt a little annoyed so off to my art room. I sat at my table and took out my feelings in a journal and the page is pretty horrific but then I moved on to a cradled wood board.  With my favorite colors, at the moment, I worked on the piece of are for a few hours. It has so many layers of paper, paint, modeling paste, did I say paint?, so much paint but in the end I love it.

No title for it yet. I guess it could be titled happy space or orange circles or I'm not annoyed anymore.  I don't know how artists come up with their titles sometimes it's hard.

Any one take their frustrations out in their art room lately? It's best way for me to feel better.

Spider Fangs! Gross

I hate spiders. I'm the one who screams when I see one. In fact one time there was one crawling along the dashboard of the car and I screamed, pulled off the side of the road, and jumped out of the car. It was one of those big black furry ones. So gross. I found the ice scrapper and smooooshed it although you would have thought I was fighting something bigger. It would make for a good funniest home video!

This is one of the cards I made at the breast cancer scrapbooking event; see post here. This year I used a box full of pieces of Halloween papers I kept plus fussy cut many images for the cards.

IT HAS FUR!

Most of my projects are not finished yet so I thought I would share with you some pictures I took. This first one is a moth that was on my house. It has fur!

Pretty amazing isn't it. I didn't take this picture in black and white; this is the color. He was amazing to look at.

The leaves are starting to fall faster here in Connecticut. The only thing I love about the fall is the color of the leaves.  This shot is at my office but the leaves have not changed much and the ones that have the colors are not the greatest. The colors of the leaves are different depending on where you are in the state. On my way to work there is one section that the colors are amazing. Fall is beautiful but I hate the cool soon to be cold weather.

I had to laugh at this because I can't fix it and have to find someone to do it. We have bird condos in part of our gutters on the house. This is their grass they planted. I'm assuming they look out at a garden.

Here is close up.

Well, now I must find someone to clean out our bird condos. Our gutters are the ones where leaves don't fall in them and they do work but the birds love them. Nothing I can do right now but laugh!

Scraptoberfest 2013

October 5th I was very excited to attend Scraptoberfest. It's a breast cancer event which raises money for the immediate needs of those with breast cancer such as wigs, a mortgage payment, utilities, food, transportation, etc.

This event is an all day scrapbooking event with includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. This year they reached 100 attendees; scrapbookers, card makers and we had a few digital scrapbookers. There is a lot of prep work for this event and this year I helped and I can't believe what goes on behind the scenes. Makes me tired just thinking about it now and I didn't do that much.

This is what the room looked like the night before:

In the front of the room were two vendors and in the back corner there were two more vendors. Each vendor gave a percentage of their sales to the event along with a donation to be raffled.

Here are all the raffle prizes.

Here is what the room looked like full of scrappers, stampers and vendors.

It was a lot fun. I did make three cards but usually I don't accomplish that much because I'm talking to everyone. Can't wait until next year!

New Challenge Blog: Tag Along

There is a new challenge blog created by Mandy Chilvers just for tags called Tag Along.  Each week there is a theme and you create a tag and link it to the bottom of the post.  This weeks challenge is Hocus Pocus; witches brew, poisons, and potions.

Here is my tag for the challenge.

I love making tags so this challenge is perfect. I found the scrapbook paper with all these bottles so I fussy cut them and added the labels. The skulls are stickers. The background is a Halloween stamp from Red Lead Paperworks and the spiders are from a stencil.

Come join in the fun!

Here are two links to two more posts I wrote for The Crafters Workshop blog for these two creations. Head on over to see which stencils I used to create them.

Which Witch?

I have a quick tag for you. I had some scraps of paper on my table and didn't have much time so a tag was the perfect thing to create.

Weird Journal Pages

I had one of those long days at work. I literally changed my clothes and walked in my art room. I needed to create something. I pulled out my small Dylusions journal and just went at it. I can tell I was in a bad mood because of all the black paint.

The one above makes me laugh.
I don't know where that page came from; it's so weird.

Journal Page: Monochromatic

I don't think I have tried to do a monochromatic journal page. I had four different shades of yellow on my table and decided to use those to make this page. I also used some letter stickers, TCW circle explosion stencil, tag, string, Dina Wakely Grunge Growth stamp.

This time I brushed the paint on, put the stencil right on top of the paint, and with a baby wipe I picked the wet paint though the stencil. Love the look of it.

Drawing Faces - I just have to laugh!

Dina Wakey has a class called, Facing the Facts. It's all about learning to draw faces. I haven't had much time to really look at it. I'm hoping when work is not so busy I can really watch the videos.  One of the things she wants you to do is commit to drawing 100 faces.  Since I haven't really started the class I decided I would draw anyway. Right now I've been drawing them in my calender when I have a moment at work.  Today, I thought I would show my funny tiny faces.

They are so weird looking.
I just laugh every time I look at them.
