HAPPY BOOOO-DAY!

Salutations! Today is my daughter's 23rd birthday.  She was born October 31, 3 lbs. 1 oz, at 3:25 am. We tried to get the doctor to fudge the time for us so it would read 31, 31, 31 but she wouldn't do it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge #6

Salutations!

Linda's tag is so beautiful. The lace in the background and the angel. There also has a small tag saying "Peace Unto You".  I was inspired by the word, Peace, and made a peaceful scene of tress and snowflakes.  The color is all from aged mahogany distress inks including the ribbon. The large snowflake is a die from Memory Box and all the stamps are Tim Holtz.

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge #5

Salutations!  Here is another tag for The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge!
This one is Tag #5

Linda's tag has a beautiful canvas pointsettia and that was my inspiration for my tag. I have two pointsettia stamps that I love.  This one is my first favorite. It's an old stamp from PSX. I gold embossed it on background paper from Memory Box and colored it in with distress ink (aged mahogany).  The rest of the paper on the tag is Memory Box. It's Christmas paper that I have had but forgotton about.

Thanks for much for stopping by.

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge #4

Salutations!  This weekend I'm playing catch up for The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challange so I will be showing you the tags in separate posts.

On Linda's tag (click link above) she used cheese cloth on her tag and stickles to look like icicles. I love the way it looks. My inspiration for my tag was Linda's stickles. I seem to only use them during the holidays so this was a great reminder to use them.  Instead of making icicles I used them on the snowflakes so they sparkle.

The background was made with a Crafters Workshop template and distress ink. I covered it with distress crackle to add texture to the tag.  The snowflakes are punched from white paper but the large snowflake behind Santa is a die from Memory Box.  Santa is a Tim Holtz stamp.

Nevermore!

Salutations! First I want to welcome my newest followers! Thank you for joining!
Welcome back to my other followers!
Also, thanks to everyone who stops by and all those who leave such wonderful comments!

I purchased a pack of paper from My Minds Eye for Halloween and it's all done on Kraft paper. I love this paper.  One piece has this crow sitting on a chandelier but I decided to use just parts of it for this tag.

Out of all the tags I have made for Halloween, this one is my favorite. I think I'm going to add the word "Nevermore". I believe that would complete the tag!

Is she real?

Salutations!  I have many vintage images for Halloween and I found this one that I haven't used. It's tinted green so I thought I would stick to that color.

I love vintage images because you can make up so many stories.
I'm sure this women was dressing up for Halloween
or is she?

Have you looked at your shadow lately?

Salutations! The vintage image on this card I have had for such a long time. I have so many Halloween images that I decided it's time to start using them.

Don't you just love the image? The background paper is from My Mind's Eye and everthing else is scraps.  As I make Halloween cards I find I use all the bits of scraps so I keep them in a folder. All my Halloween paper and embellishments are kept separate because it's my largest collection.

Final Days of Halloween

Salutations! I can make Halloween creations all year.  I love all the Halloween colors; creepy stamps and paper. I truly believe it has something to do with my daughter. She was born on Halloween and she lives far away so I think of her while I'm making cards. It's my most creative time of year.
Weird huh?
While at the breast cancer event I made a few Halloween card and over the next few days I will share them with you. I somehow need to get my mindset out of Halloween and on to other things.

I completely forgot my box of Halloween embellishments so I had to do use what I had. It was a great challenge. Having a craft room, I have what I need all the time so when I'm going to events its so hard to remember everything.

The background paper is from My Mind's Eye. I love it. The rest of the papers are scraps. With no embellisments (I had ribbon with me) I made the braided cord for the first card and used glossy accents for the crows on both cards.  The first card has a stamp from Inkadinkado and the second card the stamp is from Stampendous called crowscape.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge #3

Salutations! Here is my tage for Challenge #3.  What inspired me on Linda's tag was the sheet music. I love using old dictionary paper and sheet music.  On my tag I decided to use sheet music to cover the entire tag, border stickers; silver metallic ribbon, spirelli punch, silver metallic thread, crystals, stamp by Tim Holtz and black glitter.

I used the spirelli punch and thread to make three ornaments and hung them from Merry Christmas. Here is a close up of one of the ornaments.

Tag #3 is completed!
There is still lots of time to play!

P.S. Blogger was giving me a hard time with these pictures.
If you don't see them, please let me know. Thanks!

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge #2

Salutations! I've been trying to play catch up for this challenge and there hasn't been enough time in a day. I have two tags completed but I'm going to post them separately.

What inspired me on Linda's tag was the snowflakes and the flower. I have in my stash ribbon that has quite a bit of sparkle and I thought that would be perfect for the card. I bought new Memory Box dies (Bianca Snowflake and Frostyville Border) and I had to use them.

The picture doesn't do it any justice. You can't see the sparkles in the flower. I have to practice taking pictures of sparkles! The blue background is gesso, ice blue and pearl metallic acrylic paints. The flower was made with Tim Holtz tattered flower die. The brad I think is from Stampin Up. The deer is grungeboard which I painted white then added glitter.

Thats #2 done! I believe she's on week 7 but there is plenty of time to play!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

A Life Without Dreams...

Salutations! This past weekend I participated in a breast cancer event called Scraptoberfest. There are about 90 scrappers with all their supplies and pictures scrapping from 9am to 9pm. There are a few, like me, who really don't scrap but we made cards. Over the next few days I will show you the last of my Halloween cards and tags that I made at this event. I still have to photograph them and now that its getting dark so much earlier I have to set up another spot to take pictures.

I was able to take one picture of a tag before it got dark.  The background was made with distress inks and Dylusions Rubber Stamps. The tree is from one of my cricut cartridges that I found in my stash and the little owl is from Creative Memories. I went to this event and left all my embellishments home. I had to make cards with what I had which was a challenge. I did cheat by buying one package of Halloween embellishments from Creative Memories. I couldn't resist.

I love making tags but I think it might be the paper. Manila tags have such a wonderful surface. Isn't the owl cute?

A Peak at My Craft Room!!!

Salutations!  I thought I would show you what my craft room looks like. Although it doesn't look like it I just tore it apart and purged many, many things that I was not using. I am attending a breast cancer event on October 15th called Scraptoberfest.  The last few years I've purged my craft room and found unopened objects or never used paper packs that I can donate to the event for raffles.

Sorry the pictures aren't the best. I took these with my Samsung Galaxy Tab. I didn't feel like going all the way upstairs to get my good camera after putting the room back together again.
This first picture is from the doorway which is located at the corner of the room. The other pictures are from the two other corners I can, sort of, stand in to take the picture.

Opposite corner from door:

From corner near white bookshelf:

I'm so glad I purged. My mojo hasn't been there and taking furniture out of the room, going through drawers, paper, ribbons, etc. I have lots of ideas now that I have objects that I have never used because I couldn't see them. Who knows what's in the closet!

Any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you!

Can you draw? I can't!

Salutations! I would love to learn to draw faces but I believe its not something my hands can do. I had a drawing book for kids which gave you step by step instructions but all the faces I drew looked like zombies! I guess thinking back on it now I should have kept them. They would have made great Halloween cards.  Today I have a journal page to show you! Yes, it has a face. Thanks to Crafter's Workshop templates I can draw a face with a little help.  Since I use my art journals for experiments I thought it would be a perfect place for Ava (thats what she's named).

I have to play with the placement of her hair on her face. I made the bangs too long. Not bad for my first one!  I can look at it and make lots of negative comments BUT I'm not going to. I am proud of myself for even buying it to begin with so I'm going to like it. Practice, Practice!

The background was made with more templates, stamps, inks, paint, and pan pastels.

Making Halloween Cards Challenge #9

Salutations! On the Making Halloween Cards Challenge blog the newest challenge is to make a card with stripes and/or a haunted house. Well I didn't feel like making a card but a canvas.  This is a 4"x4" stretched canvas that I mod podged torn papers to (looks like large stripes!) and added a scary house, trees, moon and bats.  If you turn off the lights the spider webs in the windows glow in the dark. Its really hard to get a picture of that but I will keep trying.  I hope Fab doesn't mind it's not a card!

What do you think? The house is grungeboard but everything else is paper.
Thanks Fab for the fun challenge! You know I love Halloween.

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge

Salutations! The Funkie Junkie is doing a 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge. I love making tags so I thought I would join in. Since the challenge is open until December 15th I'm starting from the first tag.  Linda makes a tag and you find inspiration from it and make it your own.  Her first tag has a vintage Santa and a calendar. I have those stamps (Tim Holtz) so I decided to make my tag using those elements too.

I added a photograph of my brother when he was little sitting on Santa's lap. The background was made with Crafters Workshop templates including the bricks.

If you take a closer look at the picture you will see that Santa is trying to take my brother's gun out of his holster! Too funny!

I can't believe I made anything Christmas this early! Why don't you give it a try. It's a fun challenge! You know you want to!!!!

Mini Journal Pages

Salutations!
I have a mini art journal the size of an ATC (Artist Trading Card). It's a perfect size to throw in your bag with a couple a pens, a small template and punchinella!

This one I made with a small 6x6 circle template, punchinella and Faber Castel pens.

More punchinella, distress inks and a template made from packaging with Tim Holtz movers and shakers butterflies die.

Don't you just love the sentiment? I love it.

(I made a card for my daughter with the above sentiment since she lives so far away.)

Punchinella to the rescue! Plus some fun stamps!

For those of you who don't know punchinella it's sequin waste; what is left over after the sequins are punched out of the material. See the picture below. It's hard to find in stores but you can order it online in a few stores and I found a lot on Etsy.

My new favorite stamps!

Salutations! I finally bought a few stamps by Dyan Reaveley and I think they will be my favorite for quite some time. I need to buy more!  If you click on her name it will go to her blog and you can see all her fun art!

My other new favorite is Pan Pastels! So much fun to play with. I really didn't think I would like them. I'm not the biggest fan of chalks but these are completely different! The burnt sienna color on the tag was there. When I'm using paints and I have extra on my craft sheet I slide tags through it to wipe up the excess and use them later.

Supplies:
Dylusions Rubber Stamps:
DS015: Further Around the Edge
DS013: Quintessional Quotes
Pan Pastels
Acrylic Paint
Grungeboard Hearts
Adirondack Color Wash in Sailboat blue

Thank you for stopping by.

Outlines Challenge #20: Halloween/Fall Theme

Salutations!  I made a card for Outlines Challenge #20 which was to make a card with a Halloween/Fall theme.  The one requirement is to use one of their stamps. Since my daughter's birthday is on Halloween and her favorite animal is an alligator (I know weird) why not combine them!

Isn't he cute! You really can't see it but the scrap of green paper I found to stamp him on has spider webs on it. I found another small piece of the background paper I made and then I used my scraps to finish the card. There is a little spider brad hanging from his tale.

Supplies:
Alligator: Outlines Rubber Stamp Company
Spooky: Inkadinkado
Paper: Coredinations Black Magic
Other paper: Halloween paper scraps

I also have Outlines' posey stamps. I found some Halloween printed paper and thought I would make a flower to add to a thank you card. This one isn't for the challenge but I thought I would show you this quick card.

The gray background paper was stamped with distress ink, orange marmalade. It is a new stamp I received from going to a card class when I was in Florida.  It will be a great stamp to use all the time.
