Untitled Painting: Colors Made Possible by my Mood!

Sometimes your mood can give you great inspiration.
You can tell by the colors what mood I was in.
But I don't think it really looks like my mood.

Tell me what you think!

A Little Bird Told Me

I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day Weekend.
The weather was perfect Sunday and Monday.
Warm and sunny.

This tag was inspired by all the birds in my Willow tree.

The tag already had a blue and green background.
I added white paint through The Crafter's Workshop stencil, TCW464 Dancing Leaves and added parts of  TCW267 Ledger, with black paint. I found these little birds in my box of bits and added them.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

So Beautiful: Pink, Red, Orange and Gold

I think I'm a little obsessed with pink, red, orange and gold.
What surprises me the most is gold.
I don't like gold but for some reason it looks great with these colors.

Here is a close up.

My New Mixed Media Journal

YES I bought another small journal.
Its a Canson XL Mixed Media Journal and it's 3.5" x 5.5".
I will use this just for mixed media.
It will be a perfect size to use when I don't have a lot of time but still want to get my hands dirty.

Here is my first page.

Don't Stop Playing!

The last few days I've been in a funk. I sit at my art table and just look around and end up making garbage. BUT I'm still creating and I've learned there are just some things you can use together.

I decided that I just need to continue to play. I pulled out my Pan Pastels, a tag and stencils and created this.

Off to find some inspiration!

Seeking Wildflowers!

It was a beautiful weekend, warm and sunny.
Just wished it was a little bit warmer.
I've been making little note cards.
They are really simple.
I just used modeling paste, stencil (TCW 433 Wildflowers), dictionary paper, scrap kraft paper, and cardstock.

That's it for now!
My shoulder has been pretty sore.
Doc said no physical therapy for two weeks.
He's hoping the inflammation goes down before going back to P.T.

Collage Journal: No. 47

Hi Everyone!

I have another page to show you from my collage journal.
I love old photos and I have collected quite a few over the years.
I print out about 10 at a time.
The hard part is deciding whether to get out the individuals out of the scene in the photo or leave them in. This little girl I cut out of the picture to sit her on a little piece of a tag.
While I was multi-tasking I dropped a stamp on this page so I use it again with a little bit of water to add to the background.

All these pieces are from my box of scraps.
In this collage journal, it's all about using the scraps.
I keep all these bits and pieces for that something special.
It's time to let go and just use them.

Do you have a box of bits and pieces you have saved for that something special?
I would love to know.
Leave me a comment here or on my Facebook page!

Live In The Moment

I have a shelf full of canvas in different sizes. I call them my ugly pile.
I started them, tried to rework them, gave up and threw it on the shelf.
My goal this year is to pick one or two a month and try to do something with it.
This on is a 6x6 canvas.
You can see the background that I covered up a little.
Well, covered quite a bit.
I think it was the colors.

I added the stencil TCW375 Corn Flowers with modeling paste and used acrylic paints to add color.
I found part of a stamp on some tissue paper and added that to the canvas.

Do you have a pile of "Ugly" canvases?
I would love to know what you do with yours!

Painting Fun! An Abstract, I think

I've been working on painting abstracts. If you were to look at the art in my Pinterest boards, you will find more abstracts than anything. I've only finished one other and it was only 8x8. This canvas is 12x16.  I'm not sure this one is finished yet. I've been looking at it for a couple of days and still have not changed it so I thought I would share it.

I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

The top is layers of paint with a stencil. I used The Crafters Workshop stencil, TCW445 Palms. The bottom is layers of deli paper that I had full of letters and numbers. I think I may lighten it up a bit.

I would love to hear your feedback on it!

Art Journal Page: Take Pride

I have been using a lot of green lately and lots of layers.
This journal page is no exception.
I used distress inks, acrylic paints, and pan pastels.

These are stencils I used. All from The Crafter's Workshop.

I first added the stencil with white acrylic paint as a resist then added distress inks, acrylic paint and Pan Pastels. The only thing you have to remember is when using Pan Pastels, you must spray it with fixative so it doesn't rub off.

SMILE It's Your Birthday

Lately most of my birthday cards are tags.
They love the front of the card but anything else just extra paper.
So I either make tags or card fronts with an easel on the back.
This is a tag I made for my niece's birthday.

Chevron stencil, The Crafters Workshop Balzer Bits-Daisy, acrylic paints, scrap paper and paper flowers.
