Tag Swap

Today I have a tag to show you that I received from a tag swap on a community in G+. I love the washi tape around the edges and the blue fluff of feathers.

Created by Zsuzasa Karoly-Smith.  You can see her lovely creations on her blog Inky Dinky Doodle.

Here are the tags I sent her.
I created them using The Crafter's Workshop stencils.
I used TCW 507 The Story on this one with Imaginecrafts Metallic Creative Medium.

This one I used TCW525 Screen Print with Imaginecrafts Metallic Creative Medium.

What was I thinking?

I haven't a clue.
I just went with it.

I challenged myself to use whatever was on table to create a tag.

The colors are not pretty. LOL

This is what it looked like when I didn't know what else to do with it.

What would you do?
Weird colors.
Don't like the white of the modeling paste.
Love the textures.

YOU GLAZE IT WITH BLACK.

Wipe it off and add more gold.

Still not sure I like it but it was an interesting color combination.

What colors are on your table?
Use them to create a tag!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stencil Aliens and No Regrets

Today I have an art journal page to share with you.
My stencil aliens are throwing all the new Crafter's Workshop stencils all over my art room.
So I decided to pick up a few and use them before I put them away.
I used modeling paste, super heavy gesso, rub-ons, regular gesso, acrylic paints, acrylic glazing liquid, and these stencils from The Crafter's Workshop.

First I added a layer of gesso to the background with a palette knife including adding one set of flowers from the Daily Buzz Stencil. When it dried I added another set of flowers with modeling paste. Next, I used blue and green acrylic paints with water, the Stepping Stones stencil and rub-ons. Plus a little super heavy gesso.

This part can be scary but you have to try it.
I learned it from Donna Downey. Glazing.
You mix one part paint to two or more parts Acrylic Glazing Liquid.
Paint it all over the page and let it dry just a little.

Then take a baby wipe and wipe it off.
The color gets caught in all the texture on the page.

I decided I want to add a little darker tone to the page.
So I added another glaze of gray.

Here is the finished page.

You can get all The Crafter's Workshop stencils at Scrapbook.com.
I also share my post on my Facebook page.

Something Wonderful

Hello!
Tax season is over and I'm back in my art room.
My stencil aliens were calling my name and we closed our eyes and picked two stencils to use to create a card.

My stencil aliens and I used these two stencils.

Size - 6x6

Size - 12x12

I used the script stencil first then layered and layered the flowers.
All created with acrylic paints.

To finish the card I used Donna Downey's bird stamp and quote.
I used a piece of lace and attached it to the card with gel medium to make it look like a nest.

Bright Colors So Outside My Comfort Zone

Here is my latest abstract/mixed media painting that I finished.
Bright colors like this is outside my comfort zone but I love how it turned out.
I'm working on more.

Now I'm playing with orange and pink.
I did do many cards and tags in this color combination but never a painting.
Here are close ups of the texture.

That's it for now.
More after April 15th.

The Daily Buzz - Count Down to April 15th

Just a quick canvas I created for The Crafter's Workshop Design Team.

You can see how I created it by clicking HERE.

It looks so much nicer in person.
There are close up on TCW Blog.

Except for Design Team projects, you won't see much here until after April 15th.

Working for a tax accountant doesn't give me much time to create.

I may be able to post a few things here and there so don't forget to check back here.

Thanks for understanding and stopping by!
