Dylusions and Collage

As you know I love the Dylusions creative journal and I decided to see how the paper would take using Liquitex fluid matte medium to make a collage. Let me say I may have to buy another Dylusions journal just for my collages. It did not curl or warp.

Her Affection Forever

Today I have a mixed media piece to show you. The wood panel was painted with gesso and then I added modeling paste to the background. This has been sitting around for almost a year. It's been painted many different colors trying to figure out what I want to do with it. By accident when I was using some spray inks some black and purple found their way on the board. I found acrylic paints to match the color and like magic all the pieces to the collage came together and I finally finished it.

I have many old photos (not sure where I found this one) and lately I have been drawn to those faces. The words "her affection" were already on the picture and I thought the word forever was perfect for it.

Box of Bits

First I want to say hello to any new followers and any one stopping by for a visit. I very much appreciate it!

One of my followers asked me about the box I mention in some of my posts that I store bits and pieces of scraps and embellishments for my projects. I thought I would show you what it looks like.

Here is my BOX OF BITS!

The box is a little smaller than a shoe box. It was a gift during the holidays one year; one of those towers of boxes with candy inside. This one was delivered to where I work and every one knows that I take all the boxes.  This box sits at the end of the table and as you can see there are lots of bit and pieces of fun stuff.

I used a couple of bits for this tiny canvas.

I added the heart and butterfly to it. I actually found this canvas stuffed under a cabinet. Its amazing what you find when you clean.

Spark of Art-spiration from Carolyn Dube

Carolyn Dube is a mixed media artist and her creations are colorful and full of paint. Please go check out her blog, Carolyn Dube, A Colorful Journey.  When you subscribe to her newsletter you receive a a special Spark of Art-spiration which is a piece of her art work or a sketch that you can use in your art. April's newsletter included a mermaid sketch from her daughter. Here is what I made in my journal.

I printed two mermaids and fussy cut the sketch and turned it upside down because it looked like she was diving back in the water.  I decided to only use the tail from the second print to show a mermaid already in the water. I used stencils and spray paint for the back ground, torn music paper and acrylic paints for the water. This was lots of fun. This is the first time I have had time to use her Spark!  Subscribe to her newsletter you never know what you may find!

Enjoy Life's Moments

Here is a quick journal page I made when I couldn't sleep one night during tax season. I started to spray the page with ink, the bottle fell out of my hand, the top was loose so I ended up with a puddle of ink. No big deal I would just let it drip down the page and dry it with my heat gun BUT my heat gun died.  Thank goodness I have a small fan in my art room for drying. I'm usually working on two projects at a time so I put one under the fan and continue to work. While it was drying I found these little hearts on my table plus washi tap and finished this page. Once it was done I felt less stressed, tired and went back to bed.

I'm linking this with Julie's Art Journal Every Day. You should go over and look at her journal pages plus every one's linked pages!

I'm Smiling!!!! It's Over!

Now that tax season is over I'm hoping to get in my art room and play. This is a quick page in my Dylusions journal that I made with spray inks, stamps, stencils, distress inks, and paper scraps. I thought I would link it to Julie's Art Journal Every Day. In her post she shares how she used spray paints on her pages. Very nice! Go have a look!

Thats it for now. I hope to have more soon.

Collage; I love it.

I love looking at the art of Collage. I just joined Pinterest and there is so much inspiration in all forms of art. Some pieces I can just stare at it and just can't take my eyes of it. The one thing I do like and gravitate to is collage. I think its all the paper. Lets face it I'm addicted. I do keep the tiny pieces hoping to use them some day.

I decided to use an old Creative Memories scrapbooking journal (5x7) to work on my version of collage. I just pulled out my box of miscellaneous scraps and just made these two pages without really thinking about it. I haven't decided is I'm going to use up any of the white space on these pages. I might just leave them as is.

Here is the journal I'm using.

The pages on the side are black and white. I had the pages for the album but not the sleeves that slide over them. So instead of throwing it out I decided to use it for my collage study.

Here are my two pages. The first page is my favorite.

Sorry for the terrible pictures. It was late one night and I took these shots in my art room.

Instead of using my collection of old ephemera I decided to use bits of my scraps and scrapbook paper.  I love the bright colors on these two pages.  How do you like them?

It's almost over! I'm so excited!

One more week and tax season is over. I'm so excited. All I  hope for is on April 16th its warm and sunny.  I will still be working but I can leave the office at lunch to enjoy it.

In my new Dylusions journal this is my first page. It was a quick background of spray inks; stencils, stamps and light modeling paste. I'm linking this with Julie's Art Journal Every Day.

The quote was perfect for me. Unless I quit my job (not happening) tax season will come every year whether I like it or not. Long hours, nights dreaming of numbers or papers piling up you can't see over them, light night drives home thinking you be home in 30 minutes and then end up in construction traffic (right now Connecticut is the Construction state), and cleaning, laundry and paper work at home piling up, I can't change any of that. AND it's Sunday and I'm going into work. It's just what happens during tax time.

It's almost over!

Pass with Care; Reduce Speed

Since I don't have much time in my art room right now I decided to challenge myself to only use what I see either on my table or on my floor (its a mess).  I found this little 3x3 inch canvas under papers on my table.  So with some scraps of papers I made this collage.

Challenges

Lots of challenges around me this week. Two more weeks and tax season is over. I actually was able to get in my art room on Easter. I bought a Dylusions Creative Journal and the paper is absolutely wonderful. I have a few pages to show you as soon as I take pictures of them.

For now I leave you with this quote.
