I CUT UP and MELTED My Stencils

Hi Everyone!
This post is not for the faint of heart.
I'm sharing a design team project I created for The Crafters Workshop. You can see the link to the full post at the bottom.
I'm in a get rid of junk mood and found that I had two of the same stencil, Flower Frenzy.
The Crafters Workshop provided me with the stencils and mediums to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I cut up the stencil and then used my heat gun (in a well ventilated room) slowly heat the plastic so the flowers would curl. I then painted them with varies shades of acrylic paints.
When everything was dry I attached them to the canvas.
I have tons of glass beads so I also added them to the flowers and canvas.
Here is the finished piece.
You can see the complete tutorial by clicking HERE.

Stay tuned for another FINDING ART post next week!

Not Enough Time for All the Ideas in My Head!

Hi Everyone!
I'm having the worst time getting anything done.
So many art ideas written down and when I start nothing is going my way.  My head, heart and hands and all going in different directions.
I wouldn't say I'm in funk and not creating anything. Just too many ideas to into one project.
So I've been walking away from my art studio and trying to purge the house of all the crap.
So I thought I would share with you some of my design team projects for The Crafters Workshop that I keep forgetting to share them here (links to tutorials under the picture).

Hopefully they will give you some inspiration!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.
I've been challenged to use a particular stencil, which is so outside my comfort zone, to create a piece of art on TCW's blog on May 11th.  Don't forget to check it out!!

Hi Everyone.
Tax season part 1 is over but all the work you push to the side to get tax returns done is now a huge pile. Post-It Notes Art will probably continue.
Here are the last ones I created. The bottom right that is not finished but I lost my muse a bit so I left it alone.
You can see my little circle stencil that I used in some of my Post-It Note art. I just used a two-hole punch to punch the hole. I may design a few little hole stencils for my next Post-It Note art creation. You use what's available in the office.
Also, see the mats I used under each note.
Here are a couple of mats. You never know they may turn into art too!
That's it for now.
I'm sure there will be more.
I'm enjoying the small size.
See any you like or gives you inspiration for your next art creation?

Painting with Flower Tiles

A quick post showing you a new mixed media painting I created using the new stencil from The Crafters Workshop called Flower Tiles. I'm loving black, white, gray and silver metallic or gold metallic.

The Crafter's Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I used metallic paste and embossing powders on modeling paste.

The Gathering of Birds

I love birds. When it's warmer outside I love to sit with a cup of tea Sunday mornings and listen to all the birds.  Stencils with birds I gravitate to all the time.

For this Yupo painting I used a new stencil from The Crafters Workshop called Bird Gathering

The Crafter's Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I used heavy weight Yupo this time and I love it. I used TCW modeling paste on it with lots of paints.  Here is what it looked like before I changed it completely.

I love the way the birds seem to disappear into the background but my hands and heart were going for something else.

So I added more birds and paint and changed the feel of the painting.  Here is the bird from the picture above.

I added more texture to the background which made it look like swirls of wind or something like that. I also started to like the light shade and added more white.

Here's the final piece.

I can't wait to get this one framed.
Although I want to start selling my art I keep falling in love with it.
Do you have that problem too?

Sticky Post It Notes and Art

Working seven days a week during tax season doesn't give me any time to create art. Getting home late I pop my head in and say hello art room but just go to bed.

That doesn't stop me from creating art with lots of colors. Many times I'm just sitting at my desk waiting for processing tax returns and I use that time to doodle. I don't have a lot of time but the small yellow post it notes work perfectly.

I even have lots of colors to choose from and I buy new colorful pens every tax season.

I can tell what my mood at the moment was based on what I created on the post it notes.  See the one below full of scribbles and the word frustration. There are many days like that.

There are a few that I give me lots of ideas for other projects. I'm still drawing these spikey flowers.

These are from this past week. The face is scary LOL!

I hope you liked my gallery of Post It Notes!
I'm sure there will be more.

How many of you have unfinished creations laying around in different places?  Most of mine end of on the floor, propped up on a piece of furniture or laying under a table drying, etc.

There is always a piece of art somewhere. Mostly unfinished.  Usually that's why they are unfinished because my head, hands and heart can't go any further.

Today's post I'm going to share with you what's on my floor.
I thought it would be fun to share it because I use the floor all the time. My next post you'll actually see my floor but for now these creations are there now.

This collage I started by stamping on tissue paper. I'm loving the way it looks. I may not cover over it. Just seal and hang it.  That's why it's on the floor, I can't decide.

This is a piece of Yupo I stamped it with archival inks and rubber stamps. The stamp set is called Flower Garden by Tim Holtz.
I used high flow acrylics to color them. Not sure what I'm going to do with it. It's an odd shaped piece of Yupo. I'm really good at painting over and starting again.

What do you see in this painting?
A monster?
A fish?
A monster fish?
On Instagram someone asked if I can see the arm and fist.
I can see it. Can you?
I'm definitely leaving this one as is.
It's a great conversation piece.

Thank you for stopping by!
What do you have all over your art space floor?

Under The Sea in My Art Journal

Hello! Not much time to create lately but I did find time to play in my art journal. It's not finished yet. I have more to add but I thought I would share it.

I did use the new TCW stencil called Under The Sea .

The Crafter's Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I love starting with a black background and I start most of my projects with black. This is Dylusions Black Journal. I was originally going to add some tissue paper but decided to just use my fingers to add some TCW Gel Medium to the background for texture.

Then I added paint with the end of a paint brush to the background. Using TCW's new heavy body paint called Grape Jelly.

I also added some Blueberry Pie.

Using a mark making tool I added some more texture through the paint.

I used the Under the Sea stencil to start adding it to the background.

I started adding the fish from the the stencil. I love the shape and the patterns of the fish.

Here is what the journal spread looks like right now. This will be my "before" picture.  Wonder what it will look like in the "after" photo.  So much more to add!!!!!

Mark Montano ATC Swap

In January, Mark Montano had an ATC Swap and the theme was Love. Today I'm going to show you the ATCs I created and the ATCs I received.

Here a quick tutorial on how I created mine.

First, I added a script stamp to the background. Then added the hearts from TCW's Trust Your Heart Stencil with TCW Gel Medium Gloss

I used DecoArt paints to add one of my favorite color combinations of pink and gold.

I used little white tags and added TCW Gel Medium to them and dipped them in gold glass beads.  Used some bead adhesive and wrote love on each card and added more gold glass beads.

I decided to do them all the same way.
On the back side was all the information about the ATCs plus I added a little history on Valentines Day.

Now to show you the cards I received. They are all gorgeous!

This one was created by Mark Montano.  Love it.

I love the little butterflies and the texture around the heart.

This was created by Karen Angelo

The crystals on the petals and all the gold around the edges is gorgeous.

This one was created by Kathryn. Sorry, I can't read her last name.

Love all the glitter.

Created by Keri Krause

I'm loving the little feathers and the blue brad for the eye.

Leslie Engelson - love the little girl.

My favorite page is all the gold leaf.

Here is the last one from Diana Kovacs.

Whats not to love!

Don't you just love them all?
