HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLYN!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Today is my daughter's 26th birthday.
She said she feels like a true adult because the last step at this age was buying her own health insurance as she's no longer on her father's plan.
She's probably right!

She lives far from me.
I miss her everyday especially today!

BUT I take her birthday off every year to celebrate.
Hey, anything for a day off, right?

Today's tag is called My Turn Next!

I love these cute little monsters.
The background was created with The Crafter's Workshop Stencil TCW437 Texturized with modeling paste and acrylic inks.

Kaylyn, I hope you have an amazing day!
Happy Birthday!

Love Spooky Trees!

Here is a tag that I created with paper scraps.
I went through all my Halloween scraps and found bits and pieces of trees.
I collage them together to create the tag.

Then I found these little chipboard tags to add to the trees.
I tried to make it look like they were hanging on the trees.
And I didn't even use a stencil, weird huh?

You Used a Napkin? Yes, I did.

I found these Halloween napkins in the dollar bin and had to pick them up.
I couldn't wait to turn it into a card.

My stencil aliens made me use a stencil on this card.
Can you see the stencil?

It's the 31.
This is the Numbers Stencil (TCW480s) by The Crafter's Workshop.
I love this stencil.
I use it for so many things.
That's it for now.
Halloween is almost here so I have just a few more cards to show you.

Only Use Gray, White and Black

I'm trying to create in gray, white and black.
I have a hard time doing that because I automatically reach for color.
To make this tag I put all the supplies on my table and couldn't reach for anything else.

Die cuts, background stamp by Red Lead Paperworks, Golden High Flow Acrylics in Shading Gray, gel medium, The Crafter's Workshop Stencil TCW202s Harlequin, gray tag, scrap papers.

I'm not sure I like it.
I think because it's missing color.
Do you challenge yourself to only a few colors?
Try it!

Boooooo Ghosts!

When I saw the chandelier sticker I used on the tag all I can think of was that movie Ghostbusters. Remember it? I love that movie.

I really love using modeling paste on tags.
If you only dry the paste for a short time and apply spray inks, acrylic ink and, in this case, Golden High Flow Acrylics, the modeling paste absorbs the paint to create some cool looks.

Cork In The Round - Spooky!

I've been playing with cork this week.
When I cleaned my art room I found quite a bit.
Thought it was time to play with it.

Today I used a 2" diameter piece of cork.
I added background paper with Liquitex Matte Medium.
Painted the moon and found scraps from a die to use as trees and attached the crow.

Not My Color: Blue

I don't use blue very often in my art.
It's not my favorite color.
But when you use other shades of blue and some greens I start to like it.

Here is a mixed media piece I created.
It's on a 12x12 stretched canvas.

I used modeling paste, acrylic paints and TCW472 Persian Gate Stencil to add some texture.

What's your favorite color?

Nevermore! Love Ravens

I found these great Raven stickers.
I'm good for loving something and not using it.
I decided I can't do that anymore and I used them.

For this tag I used one stencil.
It has lots of design on it and just layered it.
I used modeling paste last and when it was try added some black ink to the paste.

Witches Halloween Tea

Here is another card I created at the scrapbooking event.
I've had the picture for a long time
I believe they are nuns not witches but how could you not think they are witches?

There are 31 for Halloween

Today I have a tag to show you that is full of bats.
Lots of bats.
There could be 31 or more.

To add a few additional bats to my tag instead of adding more stamps I used a bat paper punch to different spots on the tag.

The larger bat is from Tim Holtz Halloween Blueprint stamps.
I think this might be my favorite one I've created this year.

Spooky and Bright

October 4th I attending a breast cancer event called Scraptoberfest.
It's an all day scrapbooking event.
I don't scrapbook.
I bring all my supplies to make Halloween cards.
The event runs 9am to 9pm.

Guess how many cards I made?

Nope!

Not even close!

Only

3

I talk most of the time.
There are the regulars you see every year.
And the newbies who you stop by to check out their scrapbook pages.

Here is one of the cards I created.

The background was created using a stencil and distress ink.
Before I leave I take different types of paper and stamp images to use so I'm not adding extra weight to my bag.
The die cut window I had in my Halloween box of goodies.
The background stamp is on deli paper.
The letters I found at Michael's. Love them.

That's it.

Modeling Paste, Acrylics and Vaseline....Oh My!

Yes, Vaseline.
This time it was all me.
My stencil aliens weren't involved.

I decided to try to see how many layers Core'dinations Core Basics 110 lbs. card stock could take. I love layers and finding the perfect substrate for certain projects is key.

First, WOW! It held up and didn't even tear, curl, fall apart.
Although I don't have layer by layer pictures (in the zone) I will tell you there are 6 layers of  acrylic paint and inks on this piece of paper plus modeling paste.

I know you asking "What about the Vaseline?".
I waned to add yellow to the paper but didn't want to cover up the dark purple acrylic ink.
I wiped Vaseline on the piece and then brushed on the yellow paint.
Let it dry then wiped off the Vaseline.
It was much easier than using a baby wipe and much more fun.
You have to try it!

Pretty cool, right?
I also used The Crafter's Workshop Stencil TCW472s Persian Gate with modeling paste in the second layer. In between each layer I added gel matte medium too so I guess it has many more layers.

Looking at it I had to create a Halloween piece.
The funny part of it is that I got so involved in creating this piece I covered up most of the texture.
After all that hard work on the layers and I looked at the finished piece and I couldn't see where I added the Vaseline.
That's just what happens when I get in the zone.
Does this happen to you?

No Duplication! I can never do it again.

Hi All.
Ever create something and even though you try and try you can't recreate it?
I love my flower on this journal page.
I've tried to recreate it but so far no luck.
I will keep trying.
