Grunge Ink Workshop: Painting #2

Hi Everyone.
I am so enjoying Jodi Ohl's new workshop Grunge Ink.
I now watch all the videos as I create.

Here is my second painting.
Not sure if its really done the more I look at it.
But I will just leave it alone for now.

You Are Enough

Hi All
I would say half of my art journals are for just for playing with whatever supplies I have.
This page is from one of those journals.
I was playing with different color combinations.
I'm not sure I like the combination.
I wish I can say my stencil aliens made me do it.
I don't hate the page.
I used TCW2043 Poppy Fragment for the background.
I find I use this stencil fragment quite a bit.
I also used Dina Wakely's stamp set called Face In The Crowd.

Do you test color combinations?
Any weird ones?

It's Kind of Creepy

Hi Everyone!

This card came together really fast.
Easy in fact.
When you see it you will wonder what I was thinking.
I blame my stencil aliens.
Really, I do.

Supplies:
Washi Tape
Red Acrylic Paint - watered down.
Piece of paper towel

One thing I found that may help you.
When I was adding the red paint it would bead off the plastic washi tape.
I added clear gesso and then added the paint.
Worked perfect.

It's Fall! Leaving Are Changing

Happy Tuesday.

For today's card my stencil aliens chose TCW491s Doodling Stencil to use.
Actually, my stencil aliens were trying to jump off my table holding the stencils over their heads trying to fly.
Duh! There's holes in them. Well, this stencil was the last one they used.
I'm also using Halloween Blueprint 2 stamp set.

To create this card I stamped the Wheat stamp and used watercolors to color it in.
Then stamped the Pumpkin on a separate piece of paper, colored it in and cut it out.
I also found scrap pieces of a deli paper with a halloween background stamp and some paper leaves to add to the card.

Now for the stencil.
I used distress inks through the stencil for the background.
For a watercolor look I sprayed it with water.
Once everything was dry I attached everything to the card.

abc.123.washi + stencils = An Art Journal Page

abc.123.washi Stamps from Susan K. Weckesser
TCW493s Folk Art Flower Stencil
TCW471s Positive Stencil

I used the above to create a journal page in my travel journal.
My daughter had paints so it was great fun.
This page was actually created the day after I arrived.
She had to work and I was exhausted.
I slept in and then stayed in PJs all day.

BEWARE: It's that time again!

It's time for Halloween cards.
You all now how I love to create spooky cards.
I am trying to create a few that aren't spooky.
Not sure I'm going to like those.
This one is spooky.

This time my stencil aliens wanted to get involved.
They challenged me to create cards using one stencil.
I can use whatever stencil I want but only one per card.

Here is my first card.
I used The Crafter's Workshop stencil called Fireworks (TCW473s).
Halloween Blueprint Stamp Set from Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz
Statement Stamp - Scary Stories from Red Lead Paperworks.

As you can see I used my one stencil on the background with gel medium. Once it was dry I added watered down acrylic inks.

My Travel Art Journal: Shadows Creep But Light Prevails

Here is another page from my small travel journal.

Both flowers were there. I just added color and the words.

Before I leave I added stamps, paint, stencils, etc in my travel journal.

When I need to create and don't have a lot of time I can use those pages.

I brought Gelatos with me this trip.
They were really easy to use and can be used wet or dry.

A New Creation on The Crafter's Workshop!

I have a post up on The Crafter's Workshop blog.

I used two new stencils.

Here is a sneak peak.

You should see the whole thing. So cool.

My stencil aliens and I loved creating this.

A New Workshop by Jodi Ohl: Grunge Ink

Hi Everyone!
I'm so excited.
I'm taking a online class by Jodi Ohl called Grunge Ink.

I don't have all the supplies yet.
BUT
You can still play along and try her techniques.

I'm one who likes to watch all the videos first.
So while I watching the videos I tried out some of her techniques on a Strathmore Mixed Media Board. Not all her techniques will work the way it does on the Yupo but at least I can continue to play until my order comes.

Here is my practice piece.

You can find out about this class HERE.
Jodi is a great teacher and she makes it so much fun.
In fact the best part is the mistakes she feels she made and how she fixes it.
No intimidation; only fun!

IT'S A GIRL!

Nope it's not me.
My niece's baby shower was last weekend.
She's having a girl, Zoey Paige.
She's due any day now.

I made this card for her.
No step by step but I can tell you how I made it.

First I stamped baby shoes on a piece of of white cardstock and colored it in pink. Plus I added some sparkle to the shoe ties. I layered it over some lace and string. The string I colored with distress paint and water.

I created the background with gel medium through a chevron stencil.
Once it was dry, I used distress paints and water to add the colors to the background.

The baby shoes are old stamps from my collection of Personal Exchange Stamps (PSX).
They are not in business any longer but I have a small collection that I will never get rid off.

Pumpkin Fragment to Embellishment

There are lots of new stencil fragments from The Crafter's Workshop

Have you seen them?

What are they?

They are small stencils/masks cut into various shapes.
They are lots of fun to use.

Today I'm going to show you the Pumpkin Fragment.

I took the Core Basic 110 lbs. Paper by Core'dinations and traced the Pumpkin on the paper and cut it out.

I used acrylic paints to color the pumpkin.
To add a background, I used deli paper, black acrylic paint and added a new stencil called Random Stars
Once it was dry I attached it to the back of the pumpkin.
Now I have a great embellishment for a card or scrapbook page.

My Travel Art Journal

When I travel I always bring a small art journal and supplies.
No expectations of doing anything special.
Just something to play in on down time.

Here are a few pages from my last trip to Chicago to visit my daughter.
It was going to be only black and white but my daughter has paints and I couldn't resist.

The first thing I did was stencil my suitcase.
I bought a new one that's easier to roll because of my sore shoulder.

Here are my art journal pages. I did add paint, modeling paste, gel medium on different pages before I left. I either added to them or I was able to start a new page.

As you can see I used scraps of paper, a few stencils, and I always bring a few stamps with me.

I also took some of rubber stamps with quotes and stamped them on deli paper.

I also try to draw faces. They just make me laugh.

Paper towels torn into a heart for texture.

Plus I always bring my favorite white pen.

Wanted to see what this stencil looked like.

That's it for my pages.
As you can see I really don't think about how my page is going to look.
I just start and finish.
Traveling with a journal can be fun.
Some day I will do a themed travel journal.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A New Collage. I love it!

I'm so excited to show you my newest collage.
I finally finished it.
I usually complete the background and then it takes me quite awhile to figure out how I want the papers to look.  I even used a stencil on the page.

Here is a close up so you can see the stencil.
I used the new stencil called North Star from The Crafter's Workshop.
I just used matte gel medium and didn't add any color to it.

I hope you like.
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Live In Color: An Art Journal Page

Have you seen all the new stencils from The Crafter's Workshop?
I'm having lots of fun playing with them.
I used the following:

The background was created with the stencil and distress paints.

I fussy cut the flowers from the paper and stamped and colored the little girl and attached it to the journal page.  The name of the paper is Live In Color so the title from the paper and used it for the page.
