Cleaning My Art Room

BUT
It's still a mess.

I did find some background paper I created but never used.
I decided to make some quick note cards.

I'm going to leave them this way for now.
When I need one I can either add something to the front or leave them alone.

Do you make blank cards you can use for any occasion?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

P.S. I have tons of small art pieces to show you as soon as I can get my camera to work!
So stay tuned.

I now have to find my camera in the clean up process!

So Much Texture! Love it.

Hello!
I've been playing around with texture and I'm hooked on little dots.
I guess you can call it an abstract.

Squint your eyes and tell me what does it look like to you?
What do you see?

I added a layer of modeling paste over the canvas.
I etched in the words Happy Thoughts.
You can see Happy below.

I also scratched some lines into it too.
See below.

I even added dots and texture to the sides of the canvas.

I love the bright colors that pop off the black paint.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Time After Time: Rust

I was playing round in my small mixed media journal and ended up with a rusty page.
I haven't a clue on how I did it.
I love it.

Here is a close up of the right side of the page.

Here is a close up of one of the tags. It looks like I found it on the street.
It sort of looks gross! LOL.

EXCITING NEWS!!!!

My stencil aliens and I are so excited to tell you that The Crafter's Workshop has released all their new 2014 summer stencils. They are heading out to the stores as I write this.

You can see them all HERE.

Today I have to show you what I created with these new stencils.

I had so much fun creating this.
I don't think I'm finished with it yet but I had to show you.

Here is a close up of the seahorses.
I used acrylic paints and spray inks on this canvas.
Because the spray inks are reactive with water the seahorses picked up the spray inks.
They have a little greenish tint to them.
I think I will leave them as is.

I will be posting more this week so stay tuned!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Crafter's Workshop Dies: TCW1025 Horizontal Chevron

It's supposed to be horizontal but I'm having issues with Blogger.
Remember when I told you that you need to keep all the bits from these dies?
This last tag uses the bits.
Lots of texture.

These are bits from the Dots die.
I added distress paint to the VivaLasVegaStamp and stamped the dots and let them dry.

Then added distress paints to the tag to create a background.

Then used gel medium and added all the bits to the tag.
The dots, chevron and solace bits!

Here is another close up.

Here is the final tag.

Sort of an abstract mixed media tag.
Remember keep your die bits!

The Crafter's Workshop Dies: TCW1015 Cirlces

ALL TCW DIES WORK IN MOS DIE CUTTING MACHINES.

Hi Everyone.
Here is the next die and another tag.
This was really simple.
I already had a blue tag.

I just added some stamps to the background.
Cut the die shape and added it to the tag.

I think I'm going to use the die on a canvas.
It would make some wonderful textures.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Crafter's Workshop Dies - Solace

Today I'm going to show you another tag using TCW1011 Solace die.
The die is gorgeous. Reminds me of the sun.
Hint - Keep all the little bits from this die. You will see why soon.

Supplies:
Distress Paints
Gesso
Deli Paper

I used Distress Stains to create the background on the tag.
Then used the Solace paper to create a pattern on the tag using gesso.

I used the distress stains to color the Solace die paper and fussy cut the shapes I wanted for the tag.
I then use distress paints on deli paper and cut in round circles for the center.
Adhered everything to the tag plus add some chit chat stickers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Two more to go! Stay Tuned.

The Crafter's Workshop Has Metal Dies????

Yes, they do.
The have lots of designs and you can check them out HERE and HERE.

These are the four that I have.

TCW1020 4x6 Dots
TCW1015 4x6 Circles
TCW1025 6x4 Horizontal Chevron
TCW1011 4x6 Solace

This week I will be showing you what I created with each die.

Today I will be using TCW1020 Dots.

These are the supplies I used:

Manila Tag
White Cardstock
Golden Gesso
Golden Gel Medium
Deli Paper

I used a manila tag with a alpha background.
I used a die on a piece of white cardstock.
I used the cardstock and gesso to add the dots to the background.
Then I sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

To add more texture to the tag, I mixed together Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Gesso.
I used a palette knife and spread it on the tab plus on a piece of deli paper.

Once both were dry I added White Tattered Angels Mixed Media Paint.
In a ventilated area, I dried the tag and deli paper with a heat gun but let the heat bubble the paint.

After that step, I so engrossed with the tag I didn't take any pictures.
So I will try to give you a brief summer.

I added more Distress Paints, Tattered Angels Mixed Media Paint in Copper.
Ripped the deli paper and the Die paper to add more texture to the tag.
Looks real rusty!

Then I found a small tag and added paint to that.
On a piece of cardstock stamped the VivaLasVegaStamp and added some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to it.

Then I put it all together to look like this!

I've never been able to make things look sort of rusty.
I think I'm on a roll with it.
So far I'm having fun with these dies.
Go check them out!

Things You Don't Know

ABOUT ME!

I thought I would share a few things you don’t know about me before I show you my creation.

I have lots of favorite stamps that I use often and keep them in baskets on my table. I do not know the manufacturer, stamp name, and the baskets keep filling up.  Not a good thing for a blog but I’m sure if you ask me I might be able to figure it out. Maybe.

I’m finding I love white space in my art journals.

I love coloring in coloring books. Since I have none I use my stamps for that purpose. Creating my own pages to color in. Relieves stress sitting in front of the TV.

I love bright colors in my art work but I don’t own a lot of clothes with colors. Black is my preference with maybe a pop of color.

All of the above sums up today’s creation.

Lots of color, lots of things to color in and love the white space.

OOP! Just Smear It!

I love it when you make a mistake but it ends up looking so cool.
I’m trying to use up my dejected tags. I have a tons of them.
This one had a blue and green background plus a little modeling paste.
I decided to add more white and purple to the by mixing ink into heavy gesso.
Well when I put it though a stencil it didn’t look nice at all.
So I took my finger and just smeared it. It gives it so much more texture.

I added some glitter to it while it was wet. It added more texture. Love it! Can you see all the tiny pieces of glitter?

Then I found this little tag that matches the colors perfectly and had left over flowers from the last silk bouquet I made and added them to the tag.

So if you make a mistake just smear it.
You will be amazed how it looks!
