My Migraine Painting

First it's not finished.
Yes, I work on it when I have a migraine.
It's usually the second day and I can function but need a distraction.

Someone asked me why?
I have no idea.

I've been working on this painting for two years only when I have a migraine that lasts two days.
I don't know why I go right for this painting.
You name a color, I've used it on this painting.

I thought I would show you how it looks now.
I believe the colors will stay.

It's not finished but maybe soon.

How long have you worked on a project?

I Cut Up My Stencil

I do cut them up.
Sometimes you just need to do it.

Head over to The Crafter's Workshop Blog and find out which stencil I cut up to create this tag.

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

This is a journal page in my travel journal.
The design was there I just used watercolors to add some color.
It was a perfect page when you don't have much time.

The background was created with Rhonda's Fragments.
I'm adding this link to Balzer Designs Art Journal Every Day.

It's Not Messy Enough

I bought Dina Wakely's new book called Art Journal Courage.
I love Dina Wakely's art and decided to try something out of the book.
The one thing I noticed is that I stiffened up.
I can be quite messy in my art but I find doing something from a book I lose it.
This piece will be getting a make over.
I thought I would show you what it looks like before I started.

I haven't decided how I'm going to change it yet.
It may sit for a while before I touch it again.

I love the book and will try other projects in the book.

What are your favorite art books?
Let me know.
I'm always looking for more.

Absolutely Funky - TCW Balzer Bits - Burlap

I keep forgetting I have them.
So I took them out my drawer and now leave them on my table.
This one is perfect to add some additional texture to my tag.

Love all the texture? I adore it.

Art Journal Page: White Space

One of the things that I love about art journaling is it is relaxing.
I have many journals but I keep four small ones on my table at all times.
Small journals are just easier for me.
Lets face it a small blank page is better than a larger one.
One journal I use for traveling but sometimes I reach for it.
I add left over paint, paper, wet stencils, etc. to build up pages for use later.
This page is one of those pages.
I decided it didn't need to fill the page.
The more I leave white space the more I love it.
The images were already there I just added watercolors
and one little word.

Painting: Untitled - A Collaborative Painting

This painting is a little dark but it has a pop of pink.
I used the Number stencil from The Crafter's Workshop.

This painting was a collaborative painting I created with my god-daughter.
It looked nothing like this before I covered the whole thing in grey, black and pink.
Every time we do anything collaborative we both forget to take pictures during the process.
We feed off each other's creative energy and it just happens.

This one is the other collaborative piece.
I love the colors.

Have you tried collaborating with someone?

Know It's Enough

Know Who You Are
And Know It's Enough

This was started a long time ago.
I added the Mini Fancy Feather stencil to it to finish it.

Number Forty-Five

I finished my latest painting.
I almost ruined it by spilling paint.
I ended up adding white to it by scribbling miscellaneous words.
Helped cover up the extra paint.
I titled it No. 45

Here Is What I'm Working on Now

As you can see many things.
I usually work on about four projects at a time.
While one is drying I start another one.

The canvas with the cardboard on it I worked on late last night.
It's weird colors right now.
I added more textures too.
Not ready for a sneak peak yet.
That's it for now.
I should have some finished projects soon.

BEE HAPPY!

Last week my fellow Design Team members created lots of projects using The Crafter's Workshop stencils and Viva Las Vegastamps!
I decided to continue using the above to create a tag.

Below are the stencils and the stamp I used to create this tag.

I used paint through the stencil to create the background.

Then added dictionary paper and acrylic inks to the background.
Used the stamp with jet black archival ink on the tag and a separate tag to cut out.
I used matte gel medium and added it to the center of the stamped image.

The bee is from the center of the stencil.
You can always use parts of a stencil and the bee was the perfect choice.
I used gel medium and the stencil to create the bees.
Using pop dots I added the additional pieces.

Here is a close up of the bee.
I used distress glitter on the bee to give a little fuzz.

I think I made this because I wish it was still summer.
Sunny and warm.

Which season is your favorite?

Numbers: Working in a Series

I've been reading many articles that working in a series is a good thing.
I think my stencil aliens and my muse are thinking the same way.
I'm stuck on numbers lately.
No matter what I create there is a number on it.
I've been using the TCW's Number Stencil in 6x6 and 12x12.
Plus any other number stencil I have in my stash.
This canvas is 6x6.
I used colors that I don't use like blues and purples.
I love the way it turned out.

As you can see there are numbers in different spots on the canvas.
I just couldn't stop.
I also love the writing on the piece.
It really isn't anything like a message.
Just words off the top of my head.

Do you use writing on your creations?

We Are The Hero In Our Own Story

I keep trying to create something in just black and white but as you can see I added a pop of color.
To add additional texture to the purple paint, I added distress glitter to the wet paint.
The starts were created with modeling paste and my handmade stencil.
