Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Merry Christmas
and
Happy New Year

My daughter, Kaylyn, made these ornaments this year.

They came out so cute.

The heart is the Grinch's heart.

Maybe Christmas he thought
doesn't come from a store
Maybe Christmas perhaps
means a little bit more!

This post is the last of the year.
I will be back after the first!

I wish everyone an Happy and Healthy New Year.

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas TAG #12

Linda I finished this year!
I'm so excited.
I hated not completing it last year but life does get in the way sometimes.

Linda's tag is stunning. I love it.
Instead of making a wreath I made part of a tree.

Here is part of my tree and you can see the wire for the ornaments.

Here is the completed tag.  Again, the tag is very simple.

Here is a close up of the #25 ornaments.

Done!
Thank you Linda for hosting the challenge again this year.
It was lots of fun as always.

Check out Linda's blog and boutique.

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Tag #11

WOW almost done. One more to go!

I loved the silver and blue on Linda's tag.
My tag didn't turn out like I thought it would.

Here it is.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Tag #10

Tag #10 How exciting. I'm almost done!

I loved the red heart of her tag.
As much as I tried to do a tag I loved it just didn't happen.
This tag is very simple for me.
I worked on three tags before this one and they are in the garbage.
Only saved the heard.
So I decided to go simple.

Don't forget to check out her blog and boutique.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Tag#9

I'm so happy I'm able to finish this challenge.
I couldn't do it last year.

Linda you now have me hooked on black and gold!
That was my inspiration.
Even the deer are black and gold.

Here is the finished tag.

Here is a close up of the texture, little pearls, snowflakes and the ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas: Tag #8

I can't believe I'm on tag #8!

Click here to see Linda's beautiful tag#8.

I'm a sucker texture and her tag has a beautiful background.
Linda also only used white, red and brown on the tag.

For my tag I used snowflakes and texture paste for the background on a black tag.
For color I only used shades of pink and white.

Here is a close up of the background.

The finished tag.

If you look at the close up of the number 25 below you can see the tiny piece of glitter.
So cool looking. I had to share it.

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag #7

I'm almost done.

First I loved the pinking color but I couldn't find the color in my distress stains so I tried pink and didn't like the tag so I started over.
I will show you the pink tag at the end of the post.

I decided what I really loved was the Gothic stencil background.
I don't have that stencil but I do have a large 12x12 stencil with the same design that I used for my background.

Here are close ups of the background.

Here is the finished tag!

Don't forget to check out all Linda's tags and her boutique, The Funkie Junkie

Here is the pink tag that I hate.

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style - TAG #6

I'm a sucker for a flower.
That's one thing that inspired me on Linda's tag #6 from her Christmas tag challenge.
I also tried to keep my tag monochromatic like hers.
That's really hard for me to do.

Here is a close up of the flower.
I added tiny glass beads around the brad.

Don't forget to check out Lind'a tag and everyone else who joined the challenge!

Art Journal - Backgrounds

Here is another journal page from my travel journal.
I love to use the pages for left over paint on stencils.
This page I added Poppy Fragment from The Crafter's Workshop by tracing it on the page and coloring it in black.
Still not sure where I'm going with this but a trip is coming up fast.
I will be taking this journal with me.

Christmas Shadow Box

This year when you ordered from Red Lead Paperworks you received a free gift.
The gift is a tiny wooden shadow box to put together and decorate.
Here is what I did with mine.

Painted it Christmas Red.
Used Christmas scrapbooking paper and added that to the inside of the box to create a scene.

These are all the pieces that came with it.
I added the glitter around the front of the box.
Plus added the start and a tree to the front.

It arrived with two trees so I attached  one to the back and added snow to it.
Below is a close up of that tree.

The tiny deer is so cute.
When it arrived the antlers were broken.
But I just glued that back on and painted the deer in a few shades of browns.

I love the way it turned out.

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style - TAG #3

Over next few days you will see lots of tags.
I'm trying to play catch up with
12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style.

If you click HERE you can see Linda's tag.

You can see I was inspired by the snowflakes on her tag.
I decided to create a tag with nontraditional colors.
This tag already had blues and greens on it.
I just added the snowflakes, glitter and some extra embellishments to finish the tag.

Here is a close up of the details of the snowflakes and glitter.

Art Journal Every Day: Backgrounds

I don't art journal every day.
I love to just play in them.
When I use stencils and acrylic paints I use my travel journal for the left overs.
I then use these pages to build art journal pages.
This time I took a page and added my watercolors.
I'm not sure I may use it for anything.
I love all the colors.

If you click on the picture it will enlarge.

As you can see I was playing with TCW's Fragments and Bits.
It was a lot of fun to color in.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style - TAG #2

Here is my second tag for The Funkie Junkie's 12 Tags of Christmas.

Linda's tag I was inspired by the colors but I was drawn to the little poinsettia.

Click HERE to see Linda's tag.

Here is mine.

The pointsettia is a stamp. Sorry don't know the manufacturer.
It's one of many that are just loose in my drawers.

The center of the flower are tiny glass beads.
I decided that if I'm going to attach a bow to these tags, I'm going to try to do a different type of tag.
This one is bakers twine with a snowflake and staples.
I really love the look of the twine.

Well that's it for this tag.
I've actually completed five so far so stay tuned!

Don't forget to drop by Linda's blog and her boutique!

Thanksgiving in Chicago

I was in Chicago for Thanksgiving.
My daughter did all the cooking.

Left on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and it was snowing a little.
The plane had to be de-iced.

Black Friday we were on State Street but the only place where it was crowded was in front of Macy's windows. Other than that there was no one out. It was really weird.

Saturday the temperate was 54. It felt like Spring.
After breakfast we walked around.

I took these in an alley on State Street.
This trip I didn't take very many pictures.

Love this.

Mural made up of 4x4 tiles.

Love this at the Roosevelt Station.

We did make ornaments Saturday too.
That will be in another future post.
