Halloween card - NO STAMPING!

First.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLYN!

I hope you have a fantastic day!

It's my daughter's 24th birthday today!
She lives far from home now but I will see her for Thanksgiving.
Her birthdays were always special. My husband and I would take the day off or get out of work early, pick her up at school and the day was hers. We usually went out to dinner then to her godfather's to go out trick or treating. As she got older it changed a little but it always fun.

Second.....

I made a Halloween card to show you. I made it without using one stamp which is so strange for me. I have so many embellishments that I decided to make a card with them. The paper is new from Stampin Up.

(click on the picture and you should be able to view it larger)

I made this card out of a manila file folder I had laying around. I just cut it to the size of a #8 manila tag. I really like this size.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Christmas Tag Swap at Splitcoaststampers

I joined a Christmas tag swap over on Splitcoaststampers. I love working with tags. I think it's the size and I love the manila paper.  Jenny's swap only had a few conditions was that it had to have embellishments (I made mine), use high quality products, stamped no handwriting, and make something you would want to receive yourself. You had to make 6.

Here is my tag.

I used distress inks for the background; Christmas holly flourish stamp embossed in silver, Memory Box snowflake boarder die and added string art embellishments plus the ribbon and little charm.

Here is a close up. Click on the picture to make it larger.

I hope the recipients will like them.

My giving birth gift!

No I didn't give birth. I'm past that stage now. My daughter was born on Halloween and even though she will be 24 this year, I take the day off.  Hey, I gave birth to her! My sister, Brenda, gave me a giving birthday box full of goodies. In it was really need string/two rubber stamps/paper and some pumpkin stickers. It was a big surprise. Today's card I made with one of the stamps and the paper she gave me. Thanks Brenda!

Love this stamp. I have so many ideas for it.

Card Swap!

Hello! Sorry I haven't been around. I have been working lots and not much time for arting. One of the first online communities I joined was the Paper Wishes Message Board. I was buying their products and decided to join and communicate with other card makers.  At the time I didn't know anyone around my area who made cards so be able to talk to others was a lot of fun. I think I joined PW in 2009. Although my art has changed I still try to keep up on the forum. I haven't joined in on a card swap in a while but decided to start again.

For October's card swap it was all about being grateful for the everything in your life. I made a tag card (like a postcard but it fits in an envelope) for the swap.

The paper in the background and on the bottom of the tag are from PW's Bohemian Sarapapers. I added acrylic paints, lace, sentiment (Red Lead), and my new Memory Box butterfly die.  I can see from my past projects I use lots of spray inks and acrylic paints. Years ago it would just be a stamp and papers but I like to get my hands dirty.

This is another card I made but not sure which PW paper it is. It was at the bottom of my PW box of paper so it could be older. I was only going to send the tag because that's more my style now but I decided to send them both plus I added a few goodies.

The recipient of these cards, Judy, loves them so I'm happy. See Judy's blog to see her other creations!

These are the cards I received from Penny. Aren't they beautiful! You can see more of Penny creations on her blog HERE!

I apologize but it's how I feel!

I apologize first because of the word on my art journal page as some of my viewers may get offended. This is from a page a day calendars. My niece's mom, Elizabeth Hiltz, wrote a couple of books by the name and a calendar every year.  As I go through the calendar I keep a few of the pages to use.  This one fit for today. It was perfect.

First let me say I love all the washi tape. I think I'm addicted. Here is a close up of the quote.

Second I'm linking this to Julie's Art Journal Every Day challenge. I have been so busy I haven't had time to even play in my journals. I feel so much better!

Care

This is a mixed media piece I did on 8x10 mixed media board. I used a credit card and added acrylic inks and paint to the background and then I stopped. I didn't know what to do with it next so the best thing to do is go make a cup and tea and come back.  When I came back I saw tons of rub-on letters on a shelf. These rub-on letters were my mother's. She use to make signs for office buildings before they had plastic letter board and electronic boards. She use to hand draw each letter but as time went on it was harder to do the smaller letters so she used these rub-ons. I just added the letters here and there. You can also see I used rubber stamps too. The flowers were made with modeling paste through a Crafters Workshop Template.  When I finished it I knew I needed a word or quote for it but the word, care, popped up first in my mind.  I think it was because when I was running errands people just don't care anymore which is sad. No thank yous, you're welcome, excuse me, etc., so that's where the word came from reminding me to care.

Here is a close up of the flowers and the background.

I really like the letters in the background. I will definitely be creating something else with these rub-ons as I do have lots of them.

Scraptoberfest 2012

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted since Friday. I've been working late. This past Saturday I joined in a breast cancer event called Scraptoberfest.  It raises money not for research but for those struggling with this disease who need help with wigs, heating oil, and other things. It's a fun event.  I actually started a small scrapbook but didn't finish many pages. I usually do more talking than creating.

Here are a few pictures of tags I made. Sorry the pictures are not the greatest. I didn't take them with my camera at the time.

As you can see I didn't get very much accomplished. I was there from 9 to 9. I also shopped. There are 5 vendors that I buy from since a portion of their sales goes towards the event.

I hope to be back in my art room soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Dandelions

The best thing to create when you don't have a lot of time are tags. I find that I can grab a tag and just start right away. I think it's the size. This tag is a work in process. I'm not sure if I want to continue with it or just leave it as is.

As you can see I used an embossing folder and put it through distress inks and water. Then I decided to use modeling paste through a Crafters Workshop template to add more texture. It's a nice tag but I think it needs words but not sure yet.

Halloween Birds

Today I have a Halloween card to show you. I started it one time for Mojo Monday challenge blog but then never finished it.  I have a quite a few cards and projects that I start but never finish. Sometimes I can pick them up and continue and sometimes they sit forever.

The scalloped circle was white and I sprayed it inks and then added the stamp image. The background was a stamped piece that I had in my scraps that I cut to fit. I decided to cut the bottom of it because it was too long but then I decided to cut more of it and add it to the top.  The background papers are scraps and I think they are from Michael's Recollection Collection and Graphic 45.

Letters, letters, letters!

Hello, today I have a 12x12 stretched canvas to show you.  I love letters and I've always wanted to make a canvas like this one.  I saw one years ago and loved it but never tried to make one myself.  You know that inner critic tells you no you can't do it.  Well, I was in one of those art zones and it just happened. It really doesn't look like what I saw because that had many more layers of letters but I really love how this one came out. I think I'm going to make more in different sizes maybe even color!

The picture isn't the best. I'm having problems with my camera again. The lightening in the house was working either. I need too learn more Photoshop techniques. Here is a close up of the texture. I added modeling paste letters too.
