DecoArt Under The Sea Challange.

This was so much fun to create and so far outside my comfort zone.

New 12x12 Mixed Media Canvas

Hello!

This new canvas was inspired by Tim Holtz Numeric Alpha Parts. They are nice and large and perfect for a canvas.

The canvas is in purples and blues. 

I used a top of a paint sprayer to add the circles.

I'm loving the DecoArt Crackle Paste on the bottom.

A Poppy Garden: An Art Journal Page

 Hi Everyone!

I have lots to post but no time to edit pictures.

My day job has taken up all my extra time and I took today off to get caught up.

I posted this art journal page on social media but I thought I would show you how I created it.

First, here are all the supplies I used and the links to where you can buy them:

The Crafter's Workshop provided me with stencils to create this project. 

The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

Large Dylusions Journal

DecoArt Media:

Crackle Paint-White (my fav!)

Fluid Acrylics: Titanium White, Carbon Black, Cadmium Orange Hue, Primary Yellow, Cerulean Blue, Primary Cyan

Misters (my fav!): Yellow Green, Orange, Yellow

Dazzling Metallics: Venetian Gold

First, I added the fluid acrylics to the background with a palette knife and then added black on the top. Why? I have no clue; I felt I needed to do it.  After it dried, I added the Chickadee Post stencil with white paint. I started trace the Poppy Garden stencil on the page and I was going to paint it on but I changed my mind.

 

I decided to add the Poppy Garden with crackle paint.

I love how the crackle paint dries to a beautiful crackle.

I'm I right, gorgeous crackle!

Once it dried I added color with the Misters by spraying it on my craft sheet and using my fingers.

I wanted the garden to stand out a little more so I used a sketch and wash pencil and outlined the flowers. I used a water brush to activate the pencil and use it as a watercolor around the garden.

I haven't worked in my art journals in a while so this was a lot of fun.

Key To My Heart

Key To My Heart

I had closed the door upon my heart

And wouldn't let anyone in,

I had trusted and loved only to be hurt

But, that would never happen again.

I had locked the door and tossed the key

As hard, and as far as I could,

Love would never enter there again, 

My heart was closed for good.

Then you came into my life

And made me change my mind,

Just when I thought that tiny key

was impossible to find.

That's when you held out your hand

And provided to me I was wrong,

Inside your palm was the key to my heart

You had it all along.

I've always loved this poem.

I was looking for a quote and found it again.

It inspired this new art piece.

I took a 6x6 stretched canvas and painted it black front, back, and sides.

While the canvas was drying I painted the heart silver.

It was red.

I used the Rock Wall stencil (TCW573) from The Crafter's Workshop and DecoArt's Crackle Paint and added it all over the canvas, front, sides and back.

I also added the DecoArt Crackle Paint to the inside of the canvas.

When it dries it gives an amazing crackle finish.

While the crackle paint was drying, I painted the key silver and added glitter.

The key hole was brown so I painted it white and added glitter.

The crackle dried I added a alpha stamp with archival ink.

I added DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics in Ultramarine Blue and Primary Cyan to the canvas.

I painted the heart with Primary Cyan and added glitter.

When it dried, I hung it from the eyelet and glued the key to the front.

It's great when inspiration strikes and it turns out perfect!

She finds the perfect pieces of jewelry for the faces.

This is Jackie's doll but only her face.

She's in for reconstructive surgery at this time.

I love the headpiece.

I can't wait to see her when she's out of surgery.

I taught the girls about playing with Yupo. They had so much fun with The Crafter's Workshop stencils, India Inks, Alcohol Inks, and Golden High Flow Acrylics.

The nature that surrounded us.

The best part of these retreats is the close sisterhood we have developed. It's amazing to create art with like minded artists that hoard, buy and share their supplies, their talents and their love.
