12x12 Canvas: Squared

Hello.
I love Abstract and I've been creating quite a few mixed media Abstracts.  Here is one called Squared. It is very dark with splashes of color.

As you can see I used crackle paste at the bottom and the paints seeped into all the cracks.

The Crafter's Workshop provided me with stencils to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I used TCW561, Square Scrolls to compete this canvas.

A Collage: Cabbage Rose

Hi Everyone,
One of the many things I like to do with The Crafter's Workshop stencils are to make miscellaneous embellishments for cards, etc. I created this Cabbage Rose out of modeling paste. You can see how I did it in this post HERE. I had one left and it was perfect for the collage.

The fly/dragon fly is a large stamp (no longer available) and the rest are papers I've kept.

Hi Everyone!
Today I have another BEFORE and AFTER canvas.

When I finished this piece I loved it but over time it's just not my colors.

BEFORE

I love all the texture and numbers but it's just not me.
GESSO to the rescue!

AFTER

Here is a close up.

Now I'm loving it.
So what do you think of the change?
Leave me a comment and let me know.

Play with Blocks and The Crafter's Workshop Stencils

Hi Everyone.
I'm lucky enough to work near a Jerry's Artarama.
On my last visit, I found these.

How could I resist? Could you?

I painted them either in black or white. When the paint dried, I used the Messy Script Bit and Believe Script stencil for the part of the background.

I watered down acrylic paints and dipped the blocks into it. I made sure paint was on the front, all four sides and the back.

Once dried, I added the focals with DecoArt Crackle Paste on all the blocks.
The first one is a rose from the Cabbage Rose stencil.

I even painted all four sides.

I love the look of all the cracks.

These would make great gifts.

Next up I used the flowers from the Whimsical Shrooms stencil. As you can see these are in shades of purples.

Crackle, crackle.

This one I used Random stars stencil in Fluorescent colors.

Here are all of them.

These were so much fun.

Tribal Fish 8x8 Canvas Panel

Today I have interesting technique I've never tried using the Tribal Fish stencil from The Crafter's Workshop.

The canvas panel is 8x8 and it was originally something else and I covered it with Gesso. I centered the stencil on the panel and used DecoArt Crackle Paste and covered the stencil and the panel with it. I've never tried this before and it will definitely be something I'll do again.

While it was still wet I sprayed it with DecoArt Media Misters.

While still wet so the stencil wouldn't get stuck in the paste, I lifted the stencil and let it dry. Cool looking, right?

When it was dry I added DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics to add color. What I love the most is the color got into all the cracks.

Here is the finished piece.

Playing with a new stencil called Mumsy

Today I'm going to show you a new stencil called Mumsy.

The Crafter's Workshop provided me with stencils to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I decided to use these fluorescent paint colors on 100 lbs. black cards stock. I've been loving these bright colors lately.

I used a sponge and added the Mumsy to the card stock.

I fussy cut the blue ones out to put around the bird. The bird is from the stencil called Bird Nest (TCW608). To have the bird on hand when I want to use it, I add the bird to mixed media paper with super heavy gesso, modeling paste, heavy gel medium, or crackle paste. I fill up the paper with birds and fussy cut and color as I need them.

Here is the final piece.

I did complete a few more pieces. Sorry no step out pictures. One on Yupo, my favorite substrate, and a card.
