Words Are Things.

I love this quote. It's amazing what words can do.
I used distress paint, acrylic ink, dictionary paper, stamps and rub-ons.

Mojo Monday #295

I haven't made cards in a while but I received my new stamps from Red Lead Paperworks and I had to use them. In order to get myself back in the swing of things I decided to use the sketch challenge on Mojo Monday - The Blog.  You should check out every one's cards that are linked for this challenge. They are all gorgeous.

Here is the sketch #295:

Here is my card:

I love it when I make someone a card they keep it. I decided for those who enjoy my cards I'm going to make them more like a postcard and add an easel to the back so they can display the card.

Here is a picture of the back.

This card is 5x5 so there is plenty of room to write or stamp a sentiment. I've kept many cards in the past but I've ripped off the front to keep so this was a perfect solution for me.

Murmur

This was going to be so many different things. I was really stuck at one point until I found the butterflies and used my new stencil with spray gesso. Lots of layers on this piece. I created this on mixed media paper and cut it to 8"x10".

Here is a close up of all the layers.

Vintage dictionary paper, paint, spray gesso, archival inks, stamps, and stencils. I'm thinking of making a companion piece and have them both framed.

Thats it for now. I'm hoping to have more for you next week after a long weekend.

Words, Words, Words

No new art today. I was busy this past week and have projects in process but nothing near completion.  I thought this quote would be a good one for a Monday. There was a train accident on Friday and the trains are not running this week. I will have to leave my house before 6am all week to drive to Norwalk and drop my husband off there for the train. The good thing is that I work only 5 minutes from the train station. The worse part is those who took the train are now having to drive to work.  If I left at my normal time it would take me over 3 hours to get to work because of all the extra traffic. This is not going to be a very challenging week.

Have a great day!

It's Spring!

This is a collage I created using distress inks, paint, Memory Box Die (flowers), distress stains, stencils, archival inks and a few paper scraps.  I'm really happy with the way it came out. This one is going into work with me. I think it will look perfect on my shelf.

Here is a close up of the collage.

Art Journal Class with Marjie Kemper

Saturday I took an art journal class at the Great American Stamp Store with Marjie Kemper.  The class was called Release Your Inhibitions. We had to come up with a message to tell ourselves. First, Marjie was wonderful. She's fun, energetic, generous, and full of information AND she just came back from Ranger U so she showed us some fun techniques she learned.

My message to myself was JUST BREATHE.

There are some situations where I can get very stressed but I have to realize that it's not worth it.  Just breathe and move on.

Marjie had us using Dylusions spray inks, washi tape, stencils, torn paper, stamps and a picture. She was very generous and shared with us her stencils and stamps. There are so many layers.

Here are few close ups.

I hope you get a chance to take a class from Marjie Kemper!

Traveling Today

Today I'm going to The Great American Stamp Store for an art journal class taught by Marjie Kemper.  I love Marjie's colorful style.

Since I'm traveling today I thought these journal pages would be perfect. I used spray inks, gesso through stencils, acrylic paints and stamps. These pages are in my Dylusions journal.

I love these balloon stamps. They are from either Recollections by Michaels or Hampton Arts. They were in a zip lock baggy in the dollar section of Michaels.  Score!

I'm linking this with Julie Balzer's Art Journal Every Day. What gorgeous journal pages this week. Go one over and take a look!

Art Journal Page: Choices

Here is a journal page I created the other night. It was made with lots of spray inks, acrylic paints and stencils. I'm linking it to Julie's Art Journal Every Day. I'm started to write on the pages in this journal. I don't like my hand writing but I find if I write fast that it turns out better.

Don't ask me what I wrote. I wrote it fast and messy that I can't read part of it. I know it was a statement about my choices.

I am having issues!

I'm going to leaving you with a quote today. I'm having computer and camera issues and hope to have them fixed very soon.

Another Artsy Weekend

Last weekend I had my god-daughter over and we pulled out paints, inks, and cardboard and had lots of fun.  She loved one of my projects I made with cardboard and the way I pulled away some it so it looks distressed.  She had a hard time doing it so I told her the secret, Water!  That's right just dip your finger or a paint brush in water and make a wet mark where you want the paper to rip. I also wanted to show her how to make silhouettes using pictures out of magazines or catalogs. Saturday's mail just happened to have a catalog from Lands End but the hardest part was picking out a good model to make a silhouette. All you have to do is cut it out and paint it with black acyclic paint.

Once we distressed the cardboard we used acrylic paints and stencils to make the background.  Before we adhered the silhouettes to the cardboard we wrote our quotes in white and sprayed it with sealer and then used matte medium and attached it to the cardboard.

Here is Cassidy's.

Create a life that feels good on the inside not one that
just looks good on the outside.

She hates her handwriting but I think she did a beautiful job.  She just started a blog, Cassidy's Craft Corner, and she has a YouTube channel.  She is really good in front of a camera. Go on over and take a look.

Here is mine.
