I'm Creating a Semi-Transparent Art Journal

Hi Everyone! I have all these plastic pages sitting around so I decided to create one big art journal with them. These are covers to a booklet that we give out to clients at work. When they are scanned the covers are ripped off and thrown away.  I decided to keep them all.

The plastic has a lightly frosted side but you can still through it. Here is an art journal page I create for a Design Team post for The Crafters Workshop.  You can see the entire post HERE.

The stencil I used is called TCW779 Wild Roses. The stencil is so beautiful but I only wanted to use the roses.  In this situation all I used was painters tape. It's a great way to only use part of the stencil design.

That's it for today!

Laugh: An Art Journal Page

Here is another Instagram art journal page. The background was created with TCW stencil called Moving Vines, Ranger Oxide Inks, and black acrylic paint for the words (same stencil). Created in Dina Wakley's Media Journal.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

You can see I work on a tiny spot on my table because it's full of supplies. Do you clean up before you start another project?

The words were created with black acrylic paint and when it dried I outlined it in a white Signo pen.

Any questions just leave me a comment! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Be The Sunshine - An Art Journal Page

I love Instagram. I find it easy to use and once I start scrolling I could be on it for hours. What I post there I rarely post here so I thought I would change that.  There will be no tutorials but I can tell you what supplies I used to create the project and link them to where you can get them.

You can following me on Instagram searching for karenlizhenderson or click on the link on the top right-hand side of my blog.

This is an art journal page the I used (again!) the Joyful Sunflower stencil, Ranger Distress Oxide Inks for the background using the Bricks Stencil, various acrylic paints for the Joyful Sunflower and the Love Sonnet stencil, Dina Wakely Media Journal

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

As you can see I added the Bricks and the Love Sonnet stencils in different directions. Never be afraid to turn the stencils in different directions. You'll be surprised how they look.

This page was created in Dina Wakely's Media Journal. My all time favorite journal because of all the variety of different surfaces inside (canvas, burlap, cotton rag, watercolor paper and kraft).  Confession...I have tons of art journal but none of them are full. They all have tons of blank pages. I do believe I will finishing this one!

That's it for today!
Thank you so much for stopping by!

One Stencil - Gorgeous Art Journal Background

The wonderful thing about The Crafters Workshop stencils are they make great backgrounds. I haven't made backgrounds in a long time and it was so much fun creating this one.

I decided to use Rangers Distress Oxide inks and one TCW stencils called Dramatic Floral (TCW736) designed by Balzer Designs.  I started adding the stencil with picked raspberry.

Next, twisted citron.

Then added peacock feathers and fossilized amber.

To add more of the stencil I used a Signo white pen and traced the design onto the page.

I love it. If you look closely I only used parts of the stencil design. I love that I can choose different sections of the stencil to make it fit on the page.

The best part was when I finished using each color I would spray the stencil with water and add it to the opposite page.  Pretty cool looking right?

I don't know how or when I'll use these pages. I love the way they turned out. I think they are to pretty to cover!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Traveling Art Journal and the Holidays

Hello!
Do you carry art supplies when you travel? I do. I can't leave home without them. In fact when I do, I feel like a left a best friend home! LOL

On my last trip I had an art journal, gel pens, watercolor pencils and The Crafters Workshop stencils in 6x6 size.

This art journal page was created using TCW720 Snowflakes and TCW721 Big Wreath.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.

The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I used a gel pen to add the wreath on the page. You will notice that I didn't use the wreath as a wreath but a design on the page. While the gel pen is still wet I added some water to it with a water brush and used watercolors to add some extra color.

If you look closely you can see the snowflakes. I added them with a white signo gel pen to the page.

I love down time in a hotel where you just relax, watch TV and create art!

Thanks so much for stopping!

Unfinished Projects: Art Journal --- Wanderlust

Hi Everyone!
I've been working in my art journals lately. Working, going to the gym and getting home around 8PM cuts time away from the art. I have found that I'm reaching for started journal pages, canvas, and collage projects and trying to finish them.

This art journal spread was a page I used for left over paint and modeling paste.  Here the left over modeling paste through the Wanderlust stencil was a great start and with new eye I finished it.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I used Faber-Castell Gelatos to add color to the background by using my fingers. Using the Wild Blooms stencil I added the flowers with white paint first. When it dried, I added TCW Heavy Body Paint to add more color. I used the white paint first so the colors stay true and don't mix with the Gelatos.

I used my alpha stamp set to add the words "Life is an" to complete the journal page.

I think I may be on a roll with using unfinished projects. I actually have a closet full of them. How many unfinished projects do you have?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

3rd Annual Art Sisters Retreat - Part 1

It's been three years since Jackie invited three strangers to her home to create art. We knew each other online but never met in person. I had friends asking tons of questions like this one, why would you go meet someone from online?  In truth you never know who anyone is online but I love their art how could they be so bad, right? Well, I found a loving second family in my art sisters and wouldn't give them up for the world.

Jackie and her husband, Riley, spoil us rotten with fresh vegetables from their garden, delicious soup, breads, fruit, etc.

You don't want for anything even our home away from home was nice and comfy. Our home this year was a bigger. So roomy and comfy especially my bed. I was worried because of my bad back but my bed was perfect!

Jackie and Riley's property is gorgeous and inviting. Although the end of summer flowers there were still some gorgeous ones around. Natures art and a fairy garden too.

It's a magical place. Jackie is even a bird whisperer. It hit her window and with her magic got it to fly again.

There were even baby birds in a tomato plant too.

She even has turkeys and they have a little bicycle. Maybe they use it for exercise!!!!

I drive to Jackie's which is about six hours. I wish I was closer!! So the first afternoon we're just playing in our art journals. Here are few of my pages using new TCW  summer stencils, acrylic paints and Distress Oxide Inks.

I will say they are all enablers and most of these journal pages were created with stencils and oxide inks. I must buy them now.

We all bring supplies to share plus a project to teach. Jackie shares so much as you can see by the piles on the her tables.

Chum loves his momma and loves to be with the girls. Guarding us and all our supplies!

If you stayed this far I'm thrilled and thank you!!! I'll have more on the art retreat in a few more posts.

Thank you so much for stopping by!!! I can't wait to show you  more about the 3rd Annual Art Sisters Retreat!

Wait until you see one of many projects we created!!!!
