Small Journal - Art Journal Every Day

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been around. It's very busy at work. I have a small journal page to show you. It was just going to be black and white but I decided it needed a pop of color. I'm going to join Julie's Art Journal Every Day.  Click HERE and see Julie's pages and all those who joined.

Thinking Happy Thoughts

Here is a quick card I made using the stencil called Fifties Clock, distress ink, Peacock Feathers stencil, black acrylic paint and gel medium.

I used the Fifties Clock stencil and distress inks for the background and then added black acrylic paint mixed with gel medium I put through the Peacock feather stencil.  It's a really quick and easy card and not a lot of embellishments to cost more to send in the mail.

Carving Cardboard Again!

Yes, I'm still carving cardboard. I think I'm obsessed. This one was carved with one of the tiles from TCW Moroccan Tiles stencil.  I also decided to add some color.

Art Journal Page: Live with Purpose

I use many pages in all my journals as a clean up tool just like a tag. Anything extra like paint, ink, stamps, modeling paste, etc., I put on the page/tag and use later. This page already had some ink on it so I finished it with bits of this and that.

Weird things, issues and stuff

Hi everyone. I don't have any art to post right now. Hopefully by tomorrow night. I'm also updating my blog, changing the title, moving things around, and adding new things. So if you see anything weird, just ignore.

The hardest thing I'm changing is my blog title. I never really love it. I want to use my name in the title so I have a long list to keep going through. My daughter came up with a funny one that I might just use.

I will leave you with this quote.

Have a great day!

TAG YOUR IT! .....it bites

Today's tag screamed Halloween and I had these really cool stickers I had to use. Here is what the tag looked like before I started.

I used stencils, distress paint and a stamp to create the background.

I found I had these cool bat images that I printed on cardstock and cut out BUT they fell into some gold and black paint so you can't see their faces.

This sticker is very interesting. It looks like a man that could be a member of the family but.....

.....when you turn it to the side HE'S A VAMPIRE!

Here is the finished tag!

An Art Journal Page: White Space

I've been playing in my art journals (there are many of them) and I'm loving white space. On Pinterest I saw a mixed media piece where the artist only had a small circle in the middle of the canvas. In the circle was beautiful nature scene. I decided to try it in my art journal.

I can doing more of these pages in the future.
I just have to figure out what to put in the circle.

I'm linking this to Julie's Art Journal Every Day!

P.S. Within the next week you will see the title of my blog change.
I never really like this one.
Let me know what you think!

In Disguise

You ever have one of those projects that came together quickly and you absolutely love it.
Well, that's this one.
I bought Seth Apter's new stencils a while ago and love them.
They are great for giving your creations lots of layers.
Seth's blog, The Altered Page, gives me so much inspiration and his stencils are perfect!

This mixed media piece is called

IN DISGUISE

I had so much fun making this.
All the butterflies are images I have collected for so many years.
This time I printed them all so I have them in my stash.

CARDBOARD - It's not just used for boxes!

Hi Everyone!
Do you have cardboard boxes laying around the house?
Go grab them plus stencils, utility knife/xacto knife, and a pencil.

First, Michelle Ward has me hooked on cardboard. If you like fussy cutting, you will love this.

Take a piece of cardboard, pencil and a stencil.
Trace the stencil (TCW Graceful Flower) on the cardboard.
Next, you will get away the negative space in the stencil.
I used my pencil to fill in those spaces so it's easier.

Continue to cut away the top of the cardboard to reveal whats underneath.

When you are done it will look like this.

Pretty isn't it?
I love it.
I should have started with a stencil with less details but once it was done I'm so glad I used it.

You can see a sample of Michelle Ward's HERE.

Wait until you see the next one!!!
Thanks Michelle!!!

PLAYTIME!

My god-daughter was over and we both wanted to be outside in the wonderful weather but also needed to create art.

We grabbed lots of acrylic paints, sponges, brushes and water;

Stencils, stencils and more stencils,

And went out on my deck to create art.  The orange one is mine and Cassidy's is the other.

Here is Cassidy's all finished. I haven't taken a picture of mine yet it's not finished. On my background, although it's hard to see from the picture above, I added my name with a stencil. The letters are in all different places.  Cassidy decided to use her initials and the 13 is for 2013 but also that she is 13.  Isn't it beautiful?
