Play Time with Spray Paint

I have a new obsession.....SPRAY PAINTS.
I used Liquitex spray paints on the page.
A Christmas gift!
My stencil aliens have a list of new stencils they want me to buy.
I hid my credit card from them.
This page was super easy and fun.
I can't wait until for warmer weather to use them outside.
They are low odor but better ventilation would be nice.
The possibilities are endless.

Just playing!

A Collaberation of Fun!

I have always wanted to try to collaborate with someone to create some form of art.  With my love of stencils, paints, inks, paper, glue, and found objects who would collaborate with me? My god daughter, Cassidy, loves all that and more so while she was here we collaborated on three canvases. Two of the three canvas already had paints, inks, paper, etc. on them; the other was brand new.  Like many of us, its hard to start a blank canvas but I started these two and Cassidy started the last (a future post).

Collaborating with someone else is wonderful.  You feed off  each other's artistic energies and its amazing what happens. If you haven't tried it, DO IT!  I would love to do it again.

Today I'm going to show you two. One problem, we got so involved I don't have any before pictures. Sorry!

Here is the first one. Lots of stencils and stamps. This canvas was blank.

You are in luck. I found a before picture for the next one. Lots of stencils, modeling paste, paints, paper and spray paint (my new favorite after stencils). Before this it was painted with dark blue paint.

After many layers of paint, stamps, paper, modeling paste, stencils and washi tape.  This was a fun canvas. Cassidy would had tons of stuff and then I would cover part of it with something else. If you look at the large circle on top, Cassidy glued down the dried paint that sticks under the cap. I never thought of using dried paint before but I will do it again. I was the one to paint it all black. I have a hand made stencil of circles that I used and then I didn't think about it and just painted it black. You should have seen her face! We both decided that it looks pretty cool in the end.

Have you collaborating with some one before?
Try it!

Collage: Paris

Here is another collage I created. I'm going to frame this one but need to figure out how I want it to look.  With my new spray paints I created the background. I can't wait until it's warmer outside to use more of my spray paints and stencils.

An Old Journal Page AND never used a stencil!!!!!

Yes, I did not use a stencil! Shocking isn't it?

This two page spread has been sitting in one of my journals for a couple of years. I dropped the journal on the floor and this page opened up. I guess that was a signal telling me to finish it. The only things I added was a few stamps here and there; the quote and the butterfly.  Very simple but I love it.

Here is the page on the right.

The quote: You may trod of me in the very dirt but still, like dust, I'll rise. Maya Angelou.

No time but I have a small journal

I haven't had much time to create but I have a need to create every day. Thank goodness for a small Moleskine journal! This page already had lots of inks and paints on it. I added some modeling paste and some scraps to finish the page.

Happy Valentine's Day

Here are two tags I created. They can be used for any occasion. I'm playing with lots of layers and textures.

This one I added lots of color with a gesso resist, cardboard heart, and modeling paste.

My second tag it was all done with archival inks and distress stains.

An Angel in the Picture

It's amazing the colors you can achieve with distress paints. After each layer dried I added more color.  The angel wings and the dots are Dylusions stamps. I also used washi tag and my favorite stencil.  Wouldn't these colors look great on a large canvas?

Lots of Layers: Love and Laughter

I am playing with tags again and added lot of layers of paints, stencils, modeling paste and other odds and ends. I find playing with tags and art journal very freeing.

I have a little bag full of watch parts I forgot I had and added them on the tag. It's amazing how many layers you can put on a manila tag and it doesn't fall apart. Love that!!!!

As you can see there are lots of layers. The stamp is from Stampotique called Girl With Heart Purse. I love Stampotiques character stamps.

Journal Page - Where will you be swept off too?

For Christmas I received a gift of new stencils. My stencil aliens were very happy. This city scape stencil is from Stencil Girl Products.  It can be one of those stencils that is hard to use. You have to play with it to see how it works. This is my first attempt.

Tag: Hearts and Wings

I have a quick tag for your today. This tag's background was already done. I just added the heart, wings, dots and washi tape to complete it. The stamps are Dylusions Love Struck Lucy set. I stamped on paper that I use underneath my projects. They have lots of paint and inks on them and make great backgrounds for stamps.

A Chair, TV and a UHU glue stick

With my arm being sore, I've been playing with tags and my small art journal in front of the TV. I just bring whatever is left on my art table and challenge myself to do something with it. My small moleskine journal has a few pages that I never finished and keep forgetting about.

About UHU glue stick, I love it. I have a few different brands but this one is my favorite. In the picture below you can see all the tiny pieces of dictionary paper and washi tape on this page. I used the UHU underneath and on top to seal it.  It does not dry sticky which I love. Once it's dry I know I can lose the journal and it won't stick together.

Here is the finished page.

Leap Forward

While resting my arm so it will heal I've been making tag. I found these white printed tags in TJMaxx for $1. The newsprint in the background is a perfect way to start a tag. I just added some paints, stencils and saved images to make a small collage on the tag.

I keep saving all these images in a couple of boxes and realized I haven't been using them. I was so surprised on how much I had. I have put some aside to create small collages on canvas. I will post those as soon as they are complete.

Here is the completed tag.
