TAG YOU'RE IT! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Welcome back to my next tag in my new series TAG YOU'RE IT!. If you would like to see my first tag you can go HERE.  Closing my eyes I picked this tag,  Let me tell you that this tag is old. I always left it last because I didn't know what I was going to do with it.

But knowing that I was posting this on Thursday and it is the 4th of July the Thank Yous in the background worked to my advantage.  The first thing I did was add some white paint to parts of the back ground.

My next step was adding red to the tag. I wanted to do stripes but I decided to use this stencil from Donna Downey Studios and my favorite acrylic paint. These paints are thick but I love to use them with stencils and I water them down too for acrylic washes or a watercolor look.

I used my stars stencil that I made. I was looking for different sizes of stars a long time ago but couldn't find what I needed. I used my computer to print out different sizes and traced them on the plastic and cut them out.

I realized after I put on my first white stars with acrylic paint that the blue on the tag was spray ink. The blue ink started coming through the paint.  My trick for this is to spray on Krylon acrylic coating on the tag.

This is my magic trick with spray inks because they react with water and anything wet can start them to run.  Sometimes I don't care if that happens but I wanted white stars. You can see the difference in the stars on my tag. The whiter stars are after I sprayed the acrylic coating.

As you can see that big star you can't see the blue through and it's nice and white. After this picture I was sort of stuck.  All of a sudden my mojo took a break.  Thank goodness for knocking over a box I found a scrap of grungeboard. So I used my stencil and made more stars and painted them white and blue.

I attached them to the tag and added red, white and blue ribbon. Here is the tag finished.

Picture Perfect

One of my new stencils if from Ronda Palazzari and love all the cameras. I bought both sizes; 12x12 and 6x6. I used the 6x6 with white paint on this tag then used spray inks. I love orange and pink together.

She is Brave

I have a art journal page for you today. Ever have one of those pages where you didn't know what you were doing. Well, that's this one.  Once I added all the stamps and sprayed gesso through an alphabet stencil did I start liking it. Then the vintage picture was perfect as she has the same color flowers in her hair.  I didn't realize how many layers it had until I was creating this post.

Here a few close ups.

I love her face.

Lots of layers.

Peace

Thanks to Linda from the The Funkie Junkie Boutique I have some #10 manila tags. She loves this size and said she would never go back. I'm not sure I love them just yet. I will tell you it took me a few days to finish this. I created the background and then I didn't know what to do so it sat on my table. Then by a happy accident I knocked over my bin of vintage photos and found the perfect picture.

I used the tattered floral die to make all the flowers and the doily I had in my scraps. My new sentiment stamp is from Red Lead Paperworks and thought it was perfect.

TAG YOUR IT! Weekly Tag Project

WELCOME TO TAG YOUR IT!

Like many of you I use my tags to pick up all the extra inks and paints on my craft sheet.  I have so many tags now with many forms of colors on them. I decided to post once a week showing you the tag I picked (with my eyes closed) and show you what I created with it.

Today is my first tag.  Sorry to say I was so excited to start this project that I forgot to take a picture of the tag before I started.  Sooooooo picture this tag with only yellow paint on it.

I used white acrylic paint to make the stars through a home made stencil. The white dots are made with a white pen.  The Zia Fly is from Stamp Zia and sadly they are going out of business on July 7th.  They are selling their stamps at 50% off. I stamped the fly on scrap paper and fussy cut it out. I stamped the small star in yellow.

I'm using this one for a bookmark.
