Rose Garden: A New 2017 stencil from The Crafters Workshop

Today as a Design Team Member for The Crafters Workshop we can start showing you the new stencils for the 2017 Winter Release!!!! I'm so excited. 66 NEW STENCILS!! There are also some surprises coming too.

The Crafters Workshop will be sharing the new stencils and surprises from CHA Creativation this weekend on all their social media sites.  Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest.
Let us know what you love this year.

The Crafter's Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.
The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

Let me introduce you to the new stencil called Rose Garden (TCW711) designed by Hot Off The Press. You can get it in 12x12 and 6x6.

Isn't it GORGEOUS!

With a new stencil I like to just play with it. I decided to use two tags, TCW Modeling Paste, TCW NEW Gel Medium Matte, tissue paper, Golden High Flow Acrylics, Golden Fluid Acrylics, Golden Acrylic Glazing Liquid (Satin).

I added the stencil to both tags with TCW Modeling Paste.

This next picture is hard to see but I wanted to see what it would look like if I used the new Matte Gel Medium and layered tissue paper over the top of the stencil design.

It takes all the hard edges off the modeling paste. I'm going to try it again but use more modeling paste next time.

I used TCW Gel Medium Matte to attach all the bits and piece of a dictionary pages to the edges of the tags.

I added a layer of TCW White Gesso and let it dry.
Then I do the unthinkable I glazed it in black!

Let it dry for a bit then wiped it away with a baby wipe. One thing I didn't like about the tissue paper is that it took all the nooks and crannies away from the modeling paste so the glazing didn't come out as I would have liked. That's why its great to experiment.

So the next best thing is add more of the stencil design with modeling paste.

I glazed it again. I love the way it looks.  I wanted to leave it black and white but I had an accident and spilled a little paint. So I went with it.

Yellow high flow acrylics spilled on a corner of the project so I just continued.

Here is the entire project. I'm loving the color combination now that its finished.

What do you think of this new stencil?
Do you love it? Hate it?
Tell me!!!

All the new stencils, mediums and surprises will be shipping to all stores after CHA Creativation. You will be able to buy them at Scrapbook.com.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
I can't wait to show you more new stencils.
I'm off to play.

SCRAPTOBERFEST 2016! 12 Hour Scrapbooking Event for Breast Cancer

Scraptobertfest is a breast cancer event to raise money for immediate needs for those with breast cancer such as wigs, prosthesis, etc. No money go towards research, it goes directly to those brave fighters of this awful disease.

This event is a 12 hour scrapbooking event.
Many participants have been coming to the event for over 10 years.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served.
Lots, and lots of raffle prizes.

The best part is everything from food, raffle prizes, t-shirts, etc. is 100% donated. Amazing!

This is year we had four venders which donated a portion of their sales.  Here is a picture of the room in full swing.

This year we had scrapbookers, digital scrapbookers, card makers, knitters, and a couple of crafters making wreaths.

Although I'm one of the volunteers,  I also pay for a spot to create art. I usually make cards but I mostly walk around talking to everyone. Running here and there.

This year, although I wasn't in too much pain with my back (herniated disc), if felt better walking around so I only created these.

An Alice collage that is not finished.

And these two tags

It was a fun event and one I look forward to every year.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thinking Of Spring: Birds Nests

Hi Everyone!

I love birds. I think I get that from my parents. We didn't have a lot of money so vacations were camping/hiking trips. My father was a Boy Scout Master and also taught survival training. So guess what we learned while camping. One of the things both my parents taught us was to sit and listen for bird calls. We would then have to find the bird and when found they would tell us what kind of bird it was. To this day I love to sit on  my deck and listen to the birds.

Okay on to my project.

Today I have two tags to show you.
I have a small bin of tags I've splattered with paint, started not finished, die cut, embossed, etc., and I keep them all because I never know when I'll need to them.

This time I used two tag that were die cut and decided it would be a great place for a bird to build a nest.

I used this new stencil from The Crafter's Workshop called Bird Nest. Don't you love it. For these tags I used the 6x6 size.

The first tag I used archival inks for the background and the stamp.

The bird on each tag is was created using black paint on some scrap paper and then I cut them out.

I then added part of the bird's nest with modeling paste so it looks like the bird built it on top of the die cut. I left the nest white and added some string underneath the bird.

Here is the finished tag.

My next tag I used the leaves from the new Curious Owl stencil and added them to the tag with paint.

I used the 6x6 size.

I added the nest with modeling paste but this time I added color to the nest. I also decided to add some white to the nest with a white pen.

I added the bird and a stamp from Red Lead Paperworks.
Here is my finished tag.

I'm definitely looking forward to Spring.
I do hate the cold.
I keep thinking I need to move but can never decide on what warmer state I would live in.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
