SOCC Week 3 - Lavender, Grey and Plum

I was very excited because I've been using these colors recently.

Here are the colors.

For my entry I used a 4"x4" stretched canvas and acrylic paints.

The largest start is a piece of grunge board I pained and added glitter and glossy accents.
I used alpha stamps for the quote.

I also used some paper scraps, stamps, and archival inks.

This Was Black and White, Orange and Pink, Ohh So Many Colors

I have had this canvas for a long time.
Probably since before Thanksgiving last year.
It has been so many colors.
Nothing seemed to work.
So I took some Gesso and started with a clean slate.
Sometimes that's the best thing to do.

It has lots of layers with modeling paste and gel medium.

It ended up with blues, greens, gold and dark pink.

A perfect quote.

It's amazing what happens with a clean slate.
I don't think I will be changing the colors.
The wings and heart is a stencil but I found it a long time ago in a sales bin.
It wasn't in a package. If anyone knows where it's from let me know.

It's That Time Of Year! Graduation

I have a graduation ceremony to go to and needed a card.
I decided to make a tag instead.

The tag already had a background but I didn't like it.
I found some paper towels with paint and ink on them and use that for the tag background.

I love all the texture.

I added more spray inks for more color.
Using lots of die cut stars I played with their arrangement.
I didn't keep this one but it gives you an idea.

I added gold and silver paint plus a little glitter to the stars.

Instead of the quotes you see on graduation cards, I wanted something different.
Something that will remind her to be proud of herself for completing high school.

This one is perfect.

I am strong, confident, focused, invaluable, beautiful, blessed,
excited by my future.
I am Victorious!

Isn't that the greatest for graduation?

The Summer of Color 4 - Smudge, Splash and Pop

I joined a weekly color challenge on Twinkle, Twinkle, Sparkly Things & Such.
I thought it was a great way for me to challenge myself to use other colors.
Do you get stuck using the same colors?
My answer YES!
You post your link to their blog plus on their Facebook group.
You can see Week 2 HERE

This is week 2 colors:

Coral, Teal and a pop of White

I used a piece of watercolor paper.
Dictionary paper
Acrylic paints; cobalt teal, black, white and a mixed paints for the Coral but I haven't the foggiest idea what I used. It just happened which is always a good thing.
The Crafter's Workshop stencil: TCW309s Mini Love Birds
Ranger Ink Alpha Doodling Stencil
And the words are rub-ons I had on my table. Don't know the manufacturer.

Have you tried to challenge yourself with color?
Try it!

I Wasn't In A Bad Mood!

This may be a dark canvas but I didn't create it when I was in a bad mood.
It just happened.
I usually use bright colors so this strange for me.
My last painting was dark too but I was in a bad mood for that one.
This is an 11" x 14" stretched canvas.
It was an ugly canvas I was playing with but I just started with a clean slate and painted it black.
I do have two 24"x24" canvases and I haven't had the courage to use them.
After finishing this one, I think I will paint one black and see where it takes me.

Shades of blacks, grays and purples.

Let me know what you think about it!
I would love to hear your feedback.

Black, Gray, White and Blue

Today I have a Father's Day card to show you.
I completely forgot to post it on Sunday.
I hope everyone had a great day.

First this is what I used.

I first took a piece of dictionary paper and added acrylic paint.

My next steps I have no pictures.
I was so involved in the process that it just didn't happen.

Watercolor paper and the die TCW1015 Circles I cut for the background.
BUT
I didn't end up using it as the background.
I used TCW1024 Rubber Bands Fragment but I only used it as a circle.
I used it with black and gray acrylic paint and the Circles die cut to create the background.
Then I cut the die and used it on the front of the card.

Live In The Moment - No Mojo?

I've been out of my art room for a few days and I'm having such a hard time getting my mojo back.
I've been struggling. Frustrated. You all know what I mean.
I decided to at least to try to play with a tag.
It's small and it already had paints and molding paste on it.
Easy right? NOPE!

Then as I was pushing things away a medal word band fell off the table and hit a small glass object on the floor (yes, I put it there instead of putting it where it belongs) and it broke.
As I cleaned it up and read the band and realize it was right.

LIVE IN THE MOMENT

At that moment I did not want to create anything.
I needed a little vacation from creating.
Need to rejuvenate my creativity.

So I made this tag.
I did struggle with it.
But wanted to make it to remind myself that it's okay.
My mojo will come back.

My mojo is finally starting to come back.
I still feel a little unsettled but that usually means there are changes coming.
I started writing down projects in my head because I know I want remember them.
I even treated myself to some new supplies all on sale.

So stay turned you never know what my mojo and I will come up with!

Think Happy!! Using Silks Acrylic Glazes

A new stencil, Mini Flower Garden - TCW275 from The Crafter's Workshop and Silks Acrylic Glazes a perfect match for tags.

I mixed gel medium and black acrylic paint and put that through the stencil.
I used it on quite a few tags.
Once it was dry I used the Silks glazes to color it in.
It was like using a coloring book.

I love this stencil.
It may be one that I use all the time.

Here are close ups.

What I love about the glazes is they have an extended open time so they are easier to use.
What that means is that they don't dry very fast.
I was able to add more colors for shading.

I'm adding this tag for The Summer of Color 4 Challenge!
Go check out the week one challenge HERE!
Thanks Tracy for telling me about the challenge!!!!

The colors are bright and shimmery.
You have to try them!!!!

New Favorite Shape: Round - Be Strong

Art in the round.
My new favorite shape for art.
Can be challenging.
I started simply.

First I had heavy watercolor paper with a background on it already.
I'm trying to go through my stash of trial and error papers and use them.
I cut it to a 5 inch circle.

It looks like I used lots of stamps and maybe a stencil.
Sorry can't give you specifics.
The only thing I added with Distress Paint was the three pink circles.

When I looked at the back of the circle, I realized there was more of a background.
I decided to use the back of the circle instead.
I added the pink circles again with distress paint.

I use a stencil called Sally Carly (TCW356) from The Crafter's Workshop
Its the 6x6 size.
The silhouettes pop out so you can use the stencil many ways (as a stencil or a mask).
I decided to use black paint around the mask.

I ended up covering up most of the background so you can see the silhouette.
The hardest part will be to find a frame for it.
Any suggestions?

Art Journal Page: Untitled

I was going through some of my art journals and found this page had a background on it.
I didn't have a lot of time so I went through my stash of tags and found this one.
The only thing I added was pink to the face. At first the pink was just for highlights but then I decided to paint the entire face pink.

Everything on this page was created using the following stencils from The Crafter's Workshop

Other Supplies

Dylusions Spray Inks
Acrylic Paints

A Tag: Just Be Happy with Stencil Aliens

This one was made possible by my stencil aliens.
They kept handing me stencils to use and I don't even know which ones I used there were so many.  Also, they wanted me to use purple which is a hard color for me to use.

See the flower?
It's not made from designer paper and I didn't create it by using stencils.
Do you know what it's made from?

The answer....
Inside of a security envelope.
The envelopes that your bills come in.

CDs and Stencils: City in the Round

Hi Everyone!

Head on over to The Crafter's Workshop Blog and see how I created this.

How many stencils did I use?

I think I'm now addicted to circles.

It Isn't The End: New Art Journal Page

The best part of a small art journal is that you don't need a lot of time.
I find that when I have a larger journal sometimes I can spend hours on a page adding layer upon layer.
One little page is so much faster.

Supplies:
Quote: Stamp from Stampin Up
Everything else is from my box of bits.
