Wild Bloom in Black and White

I created these two canvases for a design team post for The Crafters Workshop. I'm loving black and white right now.

These are 8x8 cradled wood boards. I'm loving the hard boards because I find sometimes the canvas stretches out or if I want a clean stamped image on a canvas I have to stamp it on tissue paper first then add it to the canvas.

You can see how I created them by clicking HERE!

Oh How I Love Experimenting

I love pulling out my art supplies and experimenting on different techniques, colors, mediums, styles, etc.

One of the many things I love is layering and black and white paintings. I keep telling myself to keep experimenting with it but then never follow through. For 2017 I'm following through with it.

Today I'm going to show you my first work in process paintings. I decided to go tiny. These canvas panels are 3"x3" and 3"x6".  I have more success when I work on a smaller scale than starting with a 12x12 canvas/paper.

I also pulled out rubber stamps, stamped on deli paper and adhere it to the canvas in between the layers.

I don't know where I'm going with them but I will post pictures when they are complete.

Waiting for the Thaw

It's been in the 50's around here which has been nice.
In fact Tulips are coming up in my garden because of the weather.
I honestly don't think Spring is coming any time soon.

I thought I would share these pictures that I took a few weeks ago when the temperatures were in the 30's. I love black and white and took a break from my art room to take these.

I titled them Waiting for the Thaw One

Waiting for the Thaw Two

Numbers: A Mixed Media Canvas

This post was going to be a before and after.
I guess I hated this canvas so much I never took a picture of it so I don't have the before.
It was in browns and blues. It was originally created for Donna Downey's 10x10x10 Online Workshop.  I kept to her colors because those were outside my comfort zone.
There are a few canvases that I love and some I've been slowing repainting them.

I decided to keep it to black and white.

I love how the ink spreads around the numbers.

I added some scribbles.

Scratched and wiped on and off paint.

Lots of layers.

Now I love this canvas.
It's more me.
