Unfinished Projects: Art Journal --- Wanderlust

Hi Everyone!

I've been working in my art journals lately. Working, going to the gym and getting home around 8PM cuts time away from the art. I have found that I'm reaching for started journal pages, canvas, and collage projects and trying to finish them.

 

This art journal spread was a page I used for left over paint and modeling paste.  Here the left over modeling paste through the Wanderlust stencil was a great start and with new eye I finished it.

 

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.

The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I used Faber-Castell Gelatos to add color to the background by using my fingers. Using the Wild Blooms stencil I added the flowers with white paint first. When it dried, I added TCW Heavy Body Paint to add more color. I used the white paint first so the colors stay true and don't mix with the Gelatos.

I used my alpha stamp set to add the words "Life is an" to complete the journal page.

I think I may be on a roll with using unfinished projects. I actually have a closet full of them. How many unfinished projects do you have?

Under The Sea in My Art Journal

Hello! Not much time to create lately but I did find time to play in my art journal. It's not finished yet. I have more to add but I thought I would share it.

I did use the new TCW stencil called Under The Sea .

The Crafter's Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project.

The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I love starting with a black background and I start most of my projects with black. This is Dylusions Black Journal. I was originally going to add some tissue paper but decided to just use my fingers to add some TCW Gel Medium to the background for texture.

Then I added paint with the end of a paint brush to the background. Using TCW's new heavy body paint called Grape Jelly.

I also added some Blueberry Pie.

Using a mark making tool I added some more texture through the paint.

I used the Under the Sea stencil to start adding it to the background. 

I started adding the fish from the the stencil. I love the shape and the patterns of the fish.   

Here is what the journal spread looks like right now. This will be my "before" picture.  Wonder what it will look like in the "after" photo.  So much more to add!!!!!

Destiny: Playing with Wire

Hi Everyone!

I have tons of wire and I never use it. It just sits in box.  Do you have lonely unused supplies? I bet I'm not the only one. 

I don't use wire very often but I see so many mixed media creations using wire so I had to try it. I looked through Pinterest for ideas but then I was overwhelmed. I decided to just go for it by first choosing the colors. I chose black and gold. Here are all the supplies I used.

8x8 cradled wood panel

TCW Black Gesso

TCW Black Modeling Paste

TCW Heavy Body Acrylic Paint - Iridescent Gold

Dr.Ph.Martin's Ink - Iridescent Copper Plate Gold

TCW Stencil #661 - Many Textures

Seth Apter's Word Circles 1 Stamp & Die Set

Beacon Power-Tac Industrial Grade Adhesive

I painted the wood panel with black gesso, let it dry, using my finger and a little water I added the heavy body acrylic paint. To add a little texture I scratched in some marks.

Using the black modeling paste I added the Many Textures stencil and let it dry. I made sure I added the stencil on top of the marks. I let the iridescent copper plate gold ink move down the panel with a little help of water.  I let it dry on it's own.

While it was drying I used the destiny stamp and gold embossed it on 100 lbs. black card stock. The hardest part was getting the wire to do what I wanted. It was auditioned in many different positions and shapes but in the end it stayed round.  I added lots of beads plus tiny glass beads to the piece.

I add the Destiny right in the middle of the wire design.

The little gold circles are the black card stock painted with the heavy body acrylic paint that I marked up.

Here is the finished piece. It's so hard to take pictures of metallics. You can see more of the iridescent gold in person.

My thoughts......

I like using the wire and beads.

I'm not a gold person but I'm loving the black and gold combination.

I really love mark making and don't do it often so that will definitely change.

I'm looking forward to using the wire again in a group of mixed media paintings.
